Jarrett drops off Kiper's big board

Mel Kiper's big board lists his top 25 prospects in the 2007 NFL draft. In his latest update Dwayne Jarrett is no longer listed. At one time Jarrett was listed 13th overall by Kiper.

Jarrett has seen his stock fall after skipping the combine and posting a 40 time over 4.6 during his Pro Day. It's possible that Jarrett could slip to the second round.

Dwayne Jarrett runs a 4.62 40-yard dash

Dwayne Jarrett ran a 4.62 and a 4.67 40-yard dash today at USC's Pro Day. Jarrett is certainly the slowest of the top receivers in the draft.

Jarrett's supporters will tell you he has 'game speed' and the 40 time doesn't matter. His critics will compare him to another big, slow receiver from USC, former first round bust Mike Williams. Right now Jarrett appears to be a late first round pick.

Titans consider selecting Jarrett

The Titans are rumored to be meeting with Dwayne Jarrett and could select him in April's draft. Jarrett played for Titans offensive coordinator Norm Chow at USC and the Titans are in the market for a big receiver after losing Drew Bennett.

Jarrett is scheduled to work out at USC's Pro Day on Wednesday. His 40 time will be closely scrutinized after he skipped the drill at the combine.

Jarret skips 40, would have posted over 4.7?

Dwayne Jarrett skipped the 40-yard dash at the combine today. Rumors are swirling that he was running the 40-yard dash in over 4.7 seconds at pre-combine workouts and that was the reason he didn't run today.

If true, it would be a blow to Jarrett's stock. No one expected him to have one of the faster 40-times, but a 4.7 would be slower than any receiver at the combine. A slow 40-time would worry NFL scouts that he'll have difficulty getting separation in the NFL.

He'll workout at USC's Pro Day, but the numbers he puts up there will be discounted by scouts. Pro Day workouts, especially USC's, are notorious for improving 40-yard dash times. They typically have faster tracks, and more favorable conditions then the combine.

Smith, Jarret, and Hunt won't run at combine

More players are announcing they'll skip the 40-yard dash at the combine. Troy Smith, Dwayne Jarrett, and Tony Hunt will all be spectators while other players are running the forty.

Its disappointing that these players aren't willing to run with their peers and instead choose to wait till their pro day. Pro day's are notorious for improving forty times and it's difficult to compare a forty run during a pro day to one that is run at the combine.

Keyshawn's advice to Jarrett, stay in school

Former USC receiver Keyshawn Johnson recently commented that, if asked, he would tell receiver Dwayne Jarrett to stay in school.

"He's not ready for the NFL in my opinion," Johnson said. "Any time you go down to Arkansas and you allow those guys to jam you at the line of scrimmage and run poor routes, you're not ready."

It's doubtful Jarrett will listen to Keyshawn. Jarrett hasn't made his decision know, however his silence while all the other USC juniors were announcing they would return speaks volumes. It would also be difficult to see Jarrett pass up the draft when many project he'll be a top 15 pick.

USC's Baker, Washington, and Booty to return

Three USC juniors announced they will return next season: tackle Sam Baker, running back Chauncey Washington, and quarterback John David Booty.

"I've always said the whole season I want to come back," Baker said.

"I'm coming back," Booty said. "There's too much ahead of us and still a lot to learn."

Receiver Dwayne Jarrett said he would wait until after the Rose Bowl to make his decision.
