Raiders make contract offer to Quinn

According to ProFootballTalk, the Raiders have made a "lowball" offer to Brady Quinn. If he accepts, he'll be first pick in the draft.

This would be a shock considering everyone has the Raiders selecting either Calvin Johnson or JaMarcus Russell. However, it could also be a smokescreen or misinformation to try and get Johnson or Russell to sign for less.

highly unlikely... i can see how many of these rumors could be believed, but quinn is too big of a risk for anyone smart to pick him over calvin johnson or russel, but since im a bucs fan im ok with this... gives us a better shot at calvin johnson...

If the Raiders wanted Brady they could trade down and get him at a cheaper price and recive draft picks.

It sounds like a big smoke screen... The raiders offer a really low amount for quinn knowing he won't take the offer....

They need a QB now. Russel is the QB for 2-3 years from now. Plus, the Raiders have cap issues and a ridiculous contract could cause them to lose quality players. If they can save some $ locking up Quinn with the $ just above what he will get at 3 or lower, then everyone wins. Except Russel, but I still call 20-40Million winning.

actually it was reported in ESPN News also that Quinn has been the only one contacted so far about a contract, but they say this means nothing and that Oakland may not have a contract in hand by the time they choose! It also says that no offer has been made, just some contract talk! so i see no price laid down yet!

The Raiders should get in the Trent Green market, much like they grabbed up Gannon back a few years ago. Gannon + Walter + a 2nd round QB. CJ in the 1st w/ the #1 overall. Trade Porter or Moss for Green and a pick if you have to. Davis makes no sense to me.

Ha ha. The false rumors starting already. And here is some news for you guys....... Brady Quinn no matter where he is picked is going to be the better qb. He is far more prepared for the NFL than Russel, works harder, is smarter.......... So, unless your drafting purely based on arm strength, Russel has no intangibles that Quinn does not best. Anyone remember Jeff George? Best arm the league has ever seen. Russel is all arm. He'll be Byron Leftowich with a better arm in 3 years.
