Falcons owner orders GM to move up and draft CJ

Sports Illustrated's Don Banks is reporting that Falcons owner Arthur Blank has 'ordered' general manager Rich McKay to do everything possible to trade up and draft Calvin Johnson.

The Falcons obviously have a strong interest in Johnson. They would love to keep the local kid home in Atlanta and give Vick his first legitimate number one wide receiver. The Falcons also have seven picks in the first four rounds giving them the ammunition to make a trade.

Vick has had plenty of "true #1" receivers. The problem is he's the worst passing QB in the league.

I'd hate to see Calvin Johnson bust, but he will if he goes to the Falcons.

They'll have to give up a lot and might land on the right deal with the Lions

that is a good idea because they have no wide recivers.joe horn is getting old and the rest of their recivers are dropping everything vick needs a playmaker

i think that it will be a good fit if they get cj then the falcons will have two good wr in jor horn and calvin and then u will see the true talent of mike vick and they will be good in the pass and the run.

it will be a good idea if they do i they still have some picks so that they can get some other good guys in the draft that can help the D.

Vick needs a jail sentence, not a playmaker.

1st of all im a HUGE Carolina panther fan so im not wanting CJ to got to ATL.. but if he does that is all micheal vick needs.. i dont like vick i think he should play RB but that would open the field for him if he did want to take off and start running or he could just bomb it down field and let CJ just jump up and take it... it would b huge for atlanta but i hope it doesnt happen...RHB

If Vick would learn to throw with a little touch instead of firing every pass in like a bullet, maybe his decent receivers and pro-bowl tight end wouldn't drop every pass.

why would you say Vick's receivers were "true number ones" if every year the falcons are toward the tops in the league for drops. Last year Vick did it all on his own, if the Falcons got CJ they would be very scary

This is a bad idea. Not because Calvin isn't the best player in the draft, but because the Falcons have significant needs at OL, DL and S that haven't been addressed in free agency. Calvin would make a great WR for the next QB in Atlanta, but under Vick, the Falcons are a running team with occassional passes to the tight end.

Great opportunity for the Raiders. Trade #1's and get Atlanta's two 2nd's. Then the Raiders can get Levi Brown, Trent Edwards, a quality WR, and maybe another OT or a RB.
