Dolphins showing their hand? First day QB

In the last two weeks Cam Cameron and Randy Mueller have attended private workouts for Brady Quinn, Drew Stanton, and Trent Edwards. Also, Mueller recently said the Dolphins are hoping to select a quarterback in the draft.

While this could be a smokescreen, chance are the Dolphins will draft a quarterback on the first day (first three rounds). Quinn is likely the choice if he falls to the Dolphins in the first round. Stanton and Edwards could be options in round two.

the miami dolphins should not address their need for a qb in the draft. they should make a move for Trent Green or David Carr. Carr can be an elite quarter back in this league he was just placed in a bad situation in houston. If the dolphins could get Carr it would be an important piece to the puzzle. He would be the qb that the fans have been waiting fo since marino retired. the dolphins should go after a wide reciever and with their #9 pick they should either trade up for calvin johnson or stay put and draft quinn if availible but that is unlikeley or draft someone to help thier secondary

my information may not be up to date, but i believe David Carr is no longer an option. I agree, though, that the Dolphins should not wait for the draft for a qb, unless they're willing to wait a few years for a young qb to develop. The chances that Quinn will fall that far are slim.

If Quinn is still around at #9 (doubtful) it wont take the Dolphins longer than 5 seconds to get the card to the podium. If he is off the board they'll trade down for a lower #1 and pick up an additional 2d/3d...then go OL, OL, QB, CB. There is simply no greater need on this team than OL.

To the previous post....Not sure if you follow up on the league but Carr signed with the Panthers almost a week ago.

Quinn would be a good fit for the dolphins with Cam there, not sure he's going to be available at 9, they might need to trade up to get him.

I respectfully disagree, Miami has made a cottage industry out of (trying t0) recycle other teams cast off with little or no success. Aside from Drew Brees (and he is one 1 yr and counting), name one free agent QB that has had ongoing success in this league

I would not want Kolb on this team at all.

If Quinn falls to 6 you could see miami trade the 9th pick and a 3rd round pick to the redskins and flip picks. They would be a good target to trade back with the trade value isnt astoundingly different then. The redskins could get an anderson type player at the 9th or 6th pick, or a branch okoye still.

Miami gets Quinn then. If not then a trade back to the 16-20th range (specially if peterson is on the board), should yield up a 2nd round pick for miami to play with.

Draft Joe Staley, whom they are said to be in love with, for Houck work on LT with. Then work on Edwards (they are very high on him), kalil/sears/blalock and a CB/S. Miami also moved Allen to CB full time so a safety is not out of the question at all either.

That would give Miami filling up multiple needs and still have a 3rd for a BPA pick (tight end to develope or patrick if he falls).

This is what I wish the dolphins would do a big gators and dolphin fan. Dolphins should forget all the draft a QB talk until the second day and draft Chris Leak. Get Trent Green and draft a couple of OL, a S, DT, WR in the first day. Trust me all the QB's have as much as a chance in the draft as being a big time player as Leak and you get him on the low and let him sit learn behind Green for a couple of years. Not unless you move up and get Quinn forget about the QB until the second day.

If Quinn is there at the #9 spot, the Phins should most def take him, but if not, they should trade down, somewhere still in the top 20 and take joe thomas. With their First 2nd round pick take Edwards if he's there, if not wait till the 2nd one and take drew stanton. Miamiis also said to be intersested in James Pickneya qb from east carolina

For the guy who said this:

"Aside from Drew Brees (and he is one 1 yr and counting), name one free agent QB that has had ongoing success in this league"

1) Trent Green
2) Mark Brunell
3) Steve McNair
4) Kerry Collins in NY

There are many others but those are the active ones that come to mind.

"somewhere still in the top 20 and take joe thomas. "

Are you kidding? Joe Thomas will be gone in the top 5 dude.

Stay at 9 and take Quinn, Levi Brown, L. Landry, or A. Branch in that order.

Don't forget Plummer, Hasselbeck, Delhome, Garcia, and Griese (when at Tampa).

"Dear beloved, we have gather here today through this thing called life, electric word that means forever, Like Danny Marino, that we may have a qb like him on April 28, 2007." The big guys at Davie will be stupid to select another player other than a qb, trade down or up. I like Trent Edward, Let me say this clearly, NOT TRENT GREEN, BUT TRENT EDWARD. Sign a free agent db “John Fawaz” Savannah State by transfer from New Mexico Military, look up the stats on him. Impress speed and size, a power hitter, played against Kelvin Kight for the Green Bay Packers via Florida Gators, Kelvin Kight will tell you what John Fawaz did to him all day long, numeral zero “catches.” Guys and Gals, these are the players in the NFL who makes the difference. Not the Quinns or Vicks, those guys are like a crap shoot, you hit and miss and they cost you millions under the salary cap. We don’t have that much money under the salary cap and today’s NFL is not yesterday’s grandfather’s, players come and go and you build like the Pats, quick return in investment.

IF Quinn is there he will absolutely be the pick. If not, then look for the Phins to try to trade down if they cant they will take Levi Brown.

If Quinn goes to Cleveland you could very well see Peterson slide all the way to 9. At this point teams like GB, Buffalo, and others get on the phones because Houston likely wont pass on him. If they trade down its likely for Joe Staley OT Central Michigan. Great athlete, but pretty raw at the position.

The Phins have had workouts with Quinn, Russell, James Pinkney of East Carolina, Trent Edwards, Kevin Kolb, and Drew Stanton so Id say a QB in the first three rounds is almost guarenteed.

I like the idea of drafting Chris Leak but I would prob also draft another qb in the early round.
