Aaron Rodgers for Randy Moss?

ProFootballTalk.com is reporting of a rumored trade that would send Oakland Raiders receiver Randy Moss to the Green Bay Packers for quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Apparently trade talks between the Raiders and Packers for Moss are back on again. This rumor has the Raiders asking for a first rounder for Moss and the Packers countering with Aaron Rodgers.

This probably won't happen because the Raiders don't need A-Rod. They have Walter and they could draft any Quarterback in the draft they want. If I were the Raiders, I would be looking for a 3rd round pick for Moss instead of a QB

This would be a disaster for green bay. Farve can control him but when Farve retires we'd have no QB and a pain in the ass that wont listen to anyone. This is the DUMBEST trade idea for moss I have ever heard

This seems like a good trade for the Raiders. Why give up a chance to snag Calvin Johnson because you need a QB? Aaron Rodgers, at least in college, showed the accuracy to fit into any Offense that either Kiffin or Knapp has run. Green Bay is the team that I'm wondering about. Generally, when a player "fake-moons" my stadium, then I wouldn't want him ever...

This would be great for the Raiders. They get a first round experience with 2 years learning under Brett Favre at QB and they can make him their future of the QB. This allows them to take Calvin Johnson without having to feel like theyre neglecting the QB position. And if the Packers arent feeling good about Rodgers as their future QB, this is a way out for them.

From what i hear the Pack doesn't think too highly of Rodgers, i'm sure they'd love this to happen but i don't think it has a chance in hell.

Unless the Packers know Favre will play for atleast 2 more seasons, it's highly unlikey they trade Rodgers. As a Packer fan, I'd have no problem with Moss for a 3rd rounder though.

The trade makes sense to me. Oakland gets a quarterback with some potential. Favre gets a wide receiver to help him out. Oakland can pick Calvin Johnson with the first pick. Green Bay can select another quarterback in the draft to start backing up Favre...

This makes sense for the raiders. They can get a QB and with the first round get another skill player CJ or AP then they get 2 prospects for one pick and a player who will not play with them next year,

This is a great move for Oakland. They get rid of a malcontent in Moss get a QB prospect in Rodgers and get the chance to Draft Calvin Johnson the best player in the draft.

this would be great for the raiders considering they get a pretty good QB who is better than all of their others and they can either trade down from number one or take somebody like joe thomas because their o-line sucks

To counter what ebron t said, yes they do already have Walter, who is half the player that Rodgers is. Let's not forget he was almost the first overall pick a few years ago. If they made this trade, the Raiders could take Calvin Johnson 1st overall. This is a great deal, in my opinion, for the Raiders.

You've gotta be kidding me! This rumor has to be coming out of Oakland. Why would the Packers give up Rogers for Moss? Plus Moss has almost a $10M salary. If we can get him for $3-4M per year and trade a 3rd or 4th rounder then the Packers should trade. Is there any rumors about Oakland cutting Moss? Maybe we should just wait until then.

It would work out beautiful for the Raiders. Have their Qb of the future and then could draft CJ. Packers would be left with no Qb once favre leaves. Raiders would make out better in this deal.

The Raiders could let Rodgers and Walter compete to be the starter and draft CJ. That would really throw the draft out of whack.

This wont happen, the TT has expressed his satisfaction for Rodgers and how he thinks Rodgers is favres sucessor, Rodgers has only been in the game when favre was injured or the game was out of reach, this meaning even the great one himself couldnt do the job so why would a young player like rodgers succeed. Plus Ted Thompson is all about the future, he wouldnt sacrifice his QB of the future on quite possibly favres last year.

This would be bad for the pack. We already have one troublsome WR with K Rob. The Packers are young and I don't think he sets the right example for others in most situations. Plus he commands to high of a price for his one dimensional game. Not to mention taking plays off is unacceptable to me. I think anybody would want to restructure his deal and I think Moss will be shocked when he sees what the Raiders and himself have done for his career.

This makes alot more sense then people make it seem. the raiders get a prospect QB thats matured for 2 years and who ever they take in the draft is not that impressive this year and they keep their number 1 pick to take CJ or Ap to go along with a new QB you ae getting 2 prospect for a receiver that will not play for you and gaining more cap room for a possible FA.

From a Packers prespective, this would be great to only have to give up Rodgers, but the Raiders cannot possibly want Rodgers over Russel and Quinn. They should be looking for a second to third round pick.

Moss in Green Bay. Wow I can see it now, fans turning in their chesseheads for full moons after Moss mooned them when he was in Minnesota. If I was the raiders i would pull the trigger on this trade. If GB ads a 2nd rd pick w/ Rodgers. Gaining the young QB would leave the door open for the best player in the draft Calvin Johnson @ the #1 pick.

How can you now like this if you were a Raider fan?? You get a young QB and then you can take Calvin Johnson who will win games by himself with the 1st overall pick and then focus on Offensive Linemen in rounds 3 and 4

This trade would be great for both teams. Why??
Giving Favre Moss for what could be his final season is a true sign of well earned respect to Favre. They can think playoffs with last years (8-8)team + a Favre to Moss duo. Favre has earned that.
Oakland could use a quarterback and Rodgers has the makings of a very good one. The real bonus for them is enabling themselves to draft CJ, w/o question the best player in the draft, because their QB worrles would be over.

Smart trade for both teams.
The Packers need to make the playoffs in 2007. Favre might not be around in 2008. Moss could help them do that. Moss' contract isn't that big of an issue, since he needs to play elsewhere than Oakland.
Aaron Rodgers has done little to push an aging Brett Favre in two seasons. Think Jay Cutler at Denver.

All the other stuff is irrelavent to the core issue: talent. Green Bay wins in the Moss deal.

im a big pack fan, here are my thoughts.

#1 rodgers is ted thompson's boy - id find it hard 2 believe he will send him off for an older player, even if it is moss.
#2 i always thought the raiders wanted a qb that throws an above average deep ball. rodgers dosn't have the big cannon, and is better fit for a control-type offense - thus not making him "raider friendly"
#3 i think the pack should offer something like robert ferguson and a 3rd round pick for moss - that would seem fair to me.
#4 i don't think moss is a big personality rick like owens is. unless the team is really terrible like the raiders, i think hes not a distraction to the team. and we all know the packers are not a losing team anymore!

JUST STUPID

Pack GM Ted Thompson will not trade his future QB for a happy Favre. Thompson drafted Rodgers and will keep his faith in him instead of admitting a mistake like drafting him. After Favre retires, what happens? A big name, past his prime wr is the biggest name on the roster. its better to not have a face for the team than moss.

March 2, 2007 2:21:00 PM EST

This make sense in many ways. The Raiders can then use the #1 pick on Calvin Johnson and still have a young QB they can develope. Gain some cap relief to sign a free agent o-lineman, draft another one plus a RB and you have the makings of a much better offense.

Moss goes to GB where Brett can probably keep him happy - on the field. Brett will probably play this season and maybe next which coincides with Moss' contract running out. Then they both leave together and GB gets $20+million in cap relief.

Ted Thompson and Al Davis both save face on a couple of players who are not going to be factors on their respective teams this year.

March 2, 2007 2:31:00 PM EST

i can see this happening, however, i think that the trade will involve moss and something else to GB, in exchange for probably the packers 1st round pick. if the raiders can clear house of players they havent had sucess with and the packers show interest, the deal will be completed. this move will have to include rodegers and moss switching teams, as well as other add on draft picks and players.

if this happens, look for the raiders to go after johnson #1 and then possibly after marshwan lynch if still available at the sixteenth pick.

from what i am saying it may not look good for the packers, but im not the one finalizing the deal, and who knows what other picks and players will be thrown in.

This this is all based on a rumor, I see this trade as one the Packers would be willing to make Kabeer and Rodgers and a 4rth or 5th round pick for Moss and trade first round draft picks. Raiders get a pass rusher and future QB the Packers can get Moss and a future QB with the 1st pick if they would keep it.

It doesn't matter who the QB or WR combo would be in Oakland. If OAK picks up Aaron Rogers, they would be fools to not pick Joe Thomas. They have THE worst O-Line in the NFL. You could put Randall Cunningham back there in his heyday and he gets sacked 10 times a game, just like that other dummy they had.

i think it is an excellent trade for both teams if the GB fans accept moss. rodgers was some people's number one coming out of college and has had two years to pick Farve's mind, i dont need to remind you how many QBs learned under Farve have turned out pretty good. plus instead of waiting on russell to develop they can grab Cj who is moss, minus the headcase. Moss could push GB into the playoffs and i think GB deserves to give Farve everything it can to go out in style. long term it hurts a little but i dont see GB keeping moss after farve is gone and his value after cleaning up after working with farve could lead to draft picks for GB when they trade him. cause moss wont last in GB after Farve is gone. ps GB can grab a late round QB and develop him into a capable player after Farve

Rodgers is garbage anyways, and a waste of a first round pick. Brett may still have another year or two in him, especially if he has Randy Moss to throw to. He may not be as good as he once was, but Brett Farve could make virtually any wide receiver look good, moreless Randy Moss.

This is a great move for the Packers as Rodgers will not be the QB that he was in college and hasn't lived up to the packer expectations. Having a reciever like Moss on the left side will open up the field for the PAC and open up D Driver a lot more - 60% of their yardage last season was in the middle and right side of the field. After filling this GAP they need to buy into a solid left tackle and saftey.. And I'd say they're going to be a tuff team to beat in doing that next season. Still hope to see Amhad return though I do trust he's got a lot more good football left in him - should make for an interesting season pending those three positions being filled and with hopes of the return of Ahmad - See you in Green Bay - GO PAC GO

I think this would be a great trade for both teams, packer need a big time wide out.A-Rodger should go to a team in need of a QB.he'll be good in a few more years(maybe)but i think he'll stink down the road as well.so the pack should cut there loses as well.he was on the 25th pick, and he was supposed to be a #1,no the pack need a running back as well,i was hoping for another couple of years out of A.Green AKA (BATMAN),So hopefully they go after Dillon or henry?

the packers need to hurry up and start doing something because free-agency has started on friday and havent done a single thing but let A.Green go. to get the raiders attention the packers should try and trade rodgers and at least a 4th round pick. what the packers should also be looking for right now is a running back like willis magahee. he is a young guy and has proven to be a 1000 yard- rusher each year and could make a big impact to the packers.

Wow! A lot of you people talk about Rodgers like he's the second coming of Favre! Got news for you people, he's a QB with a weak arm, he's not mobile, trust me I've seen the guy play, and he's an injury liability to boot! If Oakland is dumb enough to make this trade I thank them, and so does Donald Driver, who won't be doubled anymore. The biggest winner in this trade? Without a doubt Green Bay, but more specifically Greg Jennings, who will kill those zones as a #3 receiver! By the way, I ask you how motivated would you have been playing for the WORST team in all of pro football! Playing with a worse than terrible O-line, and a stable of QBs who might just as well legally changed their names to SUCK!

This trade sucks for both because Oakland needs more then Rodgers and Calvin Johnson. They need draft picks because their O-line is atrocious. They could trade for Manning and Harrison but without a O-line what good are they? Moss to Green Bay might be OK for this year but once Farve retires, Moss is going to start pouting again.

Raiders dont need rodgers.
they need a O-line. so just QB will not get it done. it looks like Moss is going to be a Raider, an unhappy raider, but a raider never the less. The raiders are going to most likely choose Jamarcus Russell since he has a rocket arm and is a huge guy that can shake defenders off him.
as for rodgers i feel sorry for him because you never know if favre is going to retire or go for a record.

To reply to what someone said earlier . . .'Aaron Rodgers has done little to push an aging Brett Favre in two seasons. Think Jay Cutler at Denver.'

There is no way you can be comparing Brett Favre and Jake Plummer. Plummer was an average QB who is aging. Brett Favre still has more skills than Plummer did in his prime.

The Raiders want something for nothing. If you read this blog, the Raider fans all think this is great. They will get a starting QB & draft Calvin Johnson all while freeing up a ton of cap space and a major headache.

TT (Ted Thompson) isn't this dumb. He will wait until closer to the draft and send them a draft pick (like a 3rd) or maybe KGB provided Moss restructures his contract. But more than likely, we'll wait for Oakland to cut him and then maybe take a chance on him. Oakland is not going to keep him and the other teams know this.

If this were to happen it would be amazeing for both sides. Packers get some major recieving help. They can also trade up a few spots (if need be) and grab Brady Quinn. The Raiders would get a young qb who quild be worth trusting there future and trade down a few spots to grab calvin johnson or ted ginn jr and profit like a late second or early 3rd wounder pending the trade.

Russel that can throw the ball 80+ yards.Whats the big difference in Andrew Walters and Aaron Rogers..Not much.Aaron Rogers has the potential to be good but not great. Calvin Johnson is a stud and hard to pass up but he's not what the Raiders need. Also,Isn't it stupid if the Raiders passed on Leinhart and Cutler last year because they didn't fit the Raiders offense... and then end up with Aaron Rogers ??? that makes no sense at all for the Raider Nation.

Has anyone stopped to think that maybe Randy Moss has realized the QB/WR relationship he had in Minnesota ? He may be able to come to his senses and see this as an opportunity such as Andre Rison did, or Terry Glenn. Even Koren Robinson was not exactly the golden boy, but he had talent, and that is why he was brought in by Green Bay. Randy Moss may have done some things in his past that he will regret in his future, but haven't we all ? We just weren't good enough to be in Pro football where it would be in the spotlight. I say let it happen ! Brett and Randy have a mutual respect that should be respected by all fans. They are both great athletes and time is running out for both of them. Will the real Randy please stand up ? This could be your last shot, don't blow it man.
