Lions listening to trade offers for 2nd pick

The Detroit Free Press is reporting the Lions are listening to trade offers for the 2nd overall pick in the NFL draft. According to Matt Millen, he's talking to teams that are interested in JaMarcus Russell and Brady Quinn.

Trading down and acquiring more draft choices makes a lot of sense for the Lions, a team that has many holes to fill. Also, they don't seem to be interested in any of the top players in the draft except for Joe Thomas.

Wonder if Millen can do what he did 3 years ago to the Browns again, making them trade up 1 spot and give up a 2nd round pick.

I hope this trade happens with a team that wants Quinn. Gives the CARDZ more hope to get Thomas.

Are we really expecting that Millen will get this right? He better do the safe, simple thing and draft Joe Thomas.

If they trade out the Browns will be all over Thomas.

The Pack should swoop in here and snag the #2 pick and draft Calvin Johnson. A lot better plan than going after Randy Moss.

Mr Niner Fan says: I would love to see the Niners move up by trading their 1st and 2nd round picks and take Calvin Johnson! That is, if he's still available. If Raiders trade Moss for Rodgers, you can expect them to take Calvin Johson with the top pick in the draft.

Yeah Moss would be nothing but problems in Green Bay

Calvin Johnson may not be there. The Raiders can still pick him and everyone is labeling Russell as the number one pick...not a lock.

I think that the texans should trade up to draft Adrian Peterson because of the Browns major intrest and there position at number 3...

I hope the Lions dont trade out of this pick. Come on, The worst case senario is they draft Jamarcus Russell, and he is awesome. If the lions could get Calvin here, that would be amazing, that guy is a FREAK!! I might sound crazy, but the Lions need a solid #2 reciever, watch out Harrison and Wayne, the Lions have Roy and Calvin, UH-OH!!!

If they really want to stockpile picks, they could trade down with Arizona so they can get Thomas. Then trade down again at 5 with anyone who wants Quinn. Assuming Russell goes first, Peterson goest third, Johnson goes fourth, and someone is willing to trade up for Quinn. That would give them the possibility of a Levi Brown in the first round and a lot of early day two picks.

I hope the packers would trade up for this pick so they could draft either Adrian Peterson, Calvin Johnson or Joe Thomas. Truthfully I would say they would draft Adrian Peterson.

Take CJ with the no. 2 pick or move it. No other player is worth a pick that high, including Russell. This teams needs are much bigger than one player so start stocking up on picks!

Millen can actually do one thing, and that is trading, we just need to hope rod and Martz get to pick the players

Unless a team is willing to trade a solid replacement for Bly, and give up their first round pick on top of that, they just just take Joe Thomas. Kitna could have done a much better job if the offensive line gave him more time to throw. Remember, he was sacked about 55 times!

Trade down at least once, hopefully twice. Let AZ take Thomas at #2 making the top five picks Russell, Thomas, Peterson, and Calvin. Then the Lions can either take Gaines Adams at the #5, or slide down two or three more spots (HOU and MIN like Brady Quinn) and choose between DE J.Anderson or LB Willis. In the process, they add at least 2 more 2nd rounders, giving them 4 of the top 50 picks to address OL, DL, DB, and LB.

Kitna is too OLD! The lions need a QB...Just not quinn the next coming of Joey Harrington. So if they cant get Russel then draft Joe Thomas or the next freak (Calvin Johnson) the only two sure picks in the draft! And Millen should be fired but he takes all of the heat off of the Fords...

To the person hoping Millen will get over on the Browns again. That was Butch not Phil, not going to happen. If anything Browns will trade down. They have several choices for their first pick. Russell,Quinn,Peterson,Thomas,Brown, and yes the one the Browns have not said one word about Johnson.

The Packers should trade up to 2nd or 3rd and draft brady quinn. He would be a perfect fit in GB and he would have this year to learn from the best. The could possibly use Rodgers, Franks or whoever else in a trade. the point is get Quinn in GB
