Vikings will offer 2nd rounder for Schaub

According to the St Paul Pioneer Press the Vikings will offer a second round pick and possibly Brad Johnson to the Falcons for Quarterback Matt Schaub.

If the Vikings make this offer, the Falcons would have to give it serious consideration. A high 2nd round pick would be great value for Schaub.

please vikings dont do this!!!!
we have TJACK no need to bring in an unproven player, specially when we have so many holes to fill in the draft.

That makes little sense for a few reasons.

1. The vikes need a WR and trading their 2nd rounder would eliminate any ammunition they have to get Calvin Johnson as well as not be able to pick up one of the highly regarded top 7 WR's.

2. Childress has lots of confidence in Tarvaris Jackson as well he should. The kid has great tools and will be a household name by the end of next year.

3. Nothing Charley Walters (writer for pioneer press) is ever true.

4. Why would Atlanta give up a great insurance policy when they have a wreckless QB for only a 2nd rounder and a fossil of a QB?

If I were the viking i wouldn't trade my second round pick for him. The vikings already have a developing starter in Jackson. If I were the Falcons, i would think it's a good deal for a 2nd round pick. But this trade probably won't happen

Would be a nice addition, would make the pre-season battle with Jackson for QB spot fun to watch.

I would like to give Schuab a chance but for a second rounder? I don't see this being a great trade for him right now being that he has never started a full year. Also I want to see what T.Jackson can do.

I wonder why would Atlanta would agree to the trade a quarterback they like for the 7th pick in the 2nd round in 2007 to a team in the NFC when they wouldn't take the 4th pick in the 2nd round in 2006 from the Jets? And if teams pass on Brady Quinn he could fall to the Vikings at the 7th spot in the 1st round. Interesting to see if the trade actually happens.

Brad Johnson was released so it would have to be a different player if tbey were to make this trade.

I think this is a possible trade. If Jackson doesnt work out with them, they have a sure starter.

I think it's a good deal at both ends

we should just get brady quinn who will b available and then get Sidney Rice in the 2nd round who is like Calvin Johnson but not as polished.

we dont need him!!!! he's not that good of a player and to be honest I dont see why chlidress would want to even think about trading a decent pick for a backup QB.

with schaub being given the highest tender, doesn't whatever team signs him have to give atlanta a first and a third? not a 2nd rounder.....

Mr. Niner Fan says: Great point about the Vikes needing a WR. They would be a lot better off by picking up Jeff Garcia and hold on to all their Draft picks. Maybe they can trade their 1st & 2nd round picks to move up to a top 3 spot and pick up Calvin Johnson!

simple logic dictates why the falcons might take the offer. schaub will be an unrestricted FA next year. they will get nothing for him at all and the falcons have little chance to re-sign him to the offer he will get on the free market.

the falcons will see what the best offer out there for schaub is and most likely take it... if it's the vikes, then so be it.

i think the move is an intelligent one giving the vikes two options (both with upside) at the QB position.

See i love the Vikings we should trade for Matt schuab Because tarvis is a great Qb but i dont think he would be ready by next year i think schuab will do better with us then the falcons because we got a better o line than they do and it would be good for him to work with my favorite player on the team troy the WR and we could go in the draft and get a good WR what we need and look at the film on schuab he is good QB but good luck on your decsion and vikings keep the good work up and stop getting in trouble leaveing a bad impreshing on the kids
but good luck we are going to win the super next year

Terrible Terrible Terrible! Let T.Jack do his thing this year and see how he does. Next year Schuab is an unrestricted free agent and if Jackson doesn't do well then we can snab Schuab next year and we'd have a high draft pick. If Jackson does work out then hey we have our QB already

Don't Do It VIKES! We spent a 2nd on T.Jackson. Build around him. Sign a veteran wide receiver to help him like D.Bennett or E.Moulds and draft a WR in the 2nd round like S.Rice or R.Meachem and draft DE's G.Adams or J.Anderson with the 7th overall.

St Paul pioneer press may be the worst newspaper in the country what are they reporting next the Vikings trade T-Jack for a box of cereal

I hope to god the vikings do not do this! In my opinion Matt Schaub is not worth a second round pick. Just wait it out because there is a high possibility that Brady Quinn will still be availible at the 7th overall pick. PLEASE BRING QUINN TO MINNESOTA!!!

plz VIKES dont do it we have tavaris jackson and i want to see what he can do if we will get a decient WR. like dwayne Jarrett from USC..

i think that the vikes already made a mistake by not starting tavaris jackson last year i would like to see what T.JACK has in him first befor wwe go for another Q.B. i think wee should get a good W.R. first round like dwayne jarrett from USC he is 6.5 fast and can catch the ball and can help out tavaris jackson so we wont need another Q.B.

Great Post! Vikings also said to be willing to throw in Fred Smoot, Mike Rosenthal, and Moe Williams to sweeten the offer.

In other Viking QB rumors, Vikings said to be shopping Jermaine Wiggins and a seventh round pick to Indy for Peyton Manning.

great trade for vikes and browns !!!

CJ is there at #3 if you give the browns #1, #3, and #2 08

that would be very dumb if the vikings get schuab. They should trade up to cj (Calvin Johnson). Thats is what they need is a wr. Travis is good enough.

Can someone explain the "we have TJACK" and "why go after an unproven player" comments here? TJACK hasn't done anything to prove that HE is worth anything. The fact that teams have been willing to offer high draft choices for Schaub show that he is, in fact, impressive to the real experts.

TJack sucks man, there is no quarterback skills there. We need a real QB and his name is Schuab. This QB would fit in our offense and make smart decision unlike Jackson sitting back and panicking in the pocket
