Russell downs Irish, next stop NFL?

LSU junior quarterback JaMarcus Russell dominated Notre Dame's defense in LSU's Sugar Bowl win. Russell threw for 331 yards and 3 total TDs, outperforming Brady Quinn. Was this Russell's last college game?

He has yet to make his intentions public, but it will be hard for him to return to LSU. Russell's stock continues to rise and he could be a high first round pick if he enters the draft.

I guess Russell just made the Raiders' decision much easier. Russell in Silver and Black in 2007! Seems like a perfect fit!

With his skills, he'll be top 3 if he comes out.

Top 3 if he comes out. If I was Cleveland (since I'm a HUGE Browns fan), I would take him @ with our pick no question. We miss out on Mc Nabb when we took Couch and I definitely wouldnt be dumb again to pass on anotther athletic quarterback. People say take Troy Smith (The Hometown (Glenville High alumnist) with that pick but he is WAY better than Troy!

JaMarcus Russell has to be the most overrated QB. He's an average QB who is overhyped because of the lack of QB depth in the draft. The only thing that makes him attractive is his size. His arm is one thing to brag about but he is no Daunte Culpepper. Notre Dame has a porous defense that had no chance on matching up against the speed of an SEC team like LSU- no wonder his stats were above average. I have watched Russell over the past three years and he does not play well against elite competition like Brady Quinn. Against Auburn, FL, and TENN he threw four TD's and six INTS.His mobility is a joke, unless you like Byron Leftwich.

Cleveland? Tampa? You're dreaming if you think he'll get pass the Raider's pick. If he comes out he's going number 1 overall.

I go to LSU and see Russel at the mall, and that dude has been spending ALOT of money on stuff latley... I hate to think about it but hes going pro... and hes going first... and then LaRon Landry will follow to Tampa Bay... trust me on this... and if he falls from TB, hell go to Houston...

i hope the raiders select jamarcus russel if he comes out. but who knows what al davis might do. before the sugar bowl i would have thought quinn to be the guy but after his dismal performance i think russel would be a better fit. there has also been speculation that the raiders might trade down and pick marshawn lynch from cal (he is an oakland native). depending on what they do in the first round look for the raiders to either go WR or RB or Offensive-line in the second or third rounds.

I hope he gets picked first. Cleveland doesn't need another first round bust. That's right bust. This guy is big and slow. Looked great against Notre Dame and horrible against Auburn. The Browns could you OL, DL or AP. Nothing else should be considered

the raiders are very unpredictable. this is the team that passed on cutler and leinart. i can easily see them taking calvin johnson. they could very well get a qb in free agency or trade in the offseason (matt schaub anyone?). lets not forget that just last week russell wasnt even a top 15 pick. are you that naive to say that one game jumped him to the first pick of the draft? the answer is no. notre dame doesnt exactly have a good d. now if he did that against ohio state or florida, it would be a different story.

Well, I admit that I'm a Raiders fan... but even without my bias, I can't see Al Davis passing on this guy... Anyone who knows anything about Mr. Davis knows he loves a QB with a cannon for an arm, and this guy has the biggest cannon I've ever seen -- and I've been watching the NFL since 1968... In addition, the guy has amazing poise in the pocket! Watching him stand in the pocket, totally focused downfield, before snapping his wrist and delivering a bullseye... I'm totally impressed -- and I'm on his bandwagon!!

whoever thinks jamarcus russell is slow needs to see how he moves around in the pocket. His timed speed is .05 slower than quinn an Russell happens to be 2 inches taller and almost 40 ponds heavier doesn't look to slow to me. i hope BIG Al Davis picks him because Russell is a guy that you can build your team around. with the new found defense and a year of development watch out for jamarcus russell!! silver and black all the way!!
