Lions dining with Thomas, not looking at QBs

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that Detroit Lions team officials, including Matt Millen, took Wisconsin tackle Joe Thomas to dinner Monday night.

Tuesday at the Senior Bowl offensive coordinator Mike Martz said the Lions needs were "everything, except for a quarterback."

This could be a smoke screen, but it looks like the Lions are satisfied with Kitna as their QB and will look to address other needs with the 2nd overall pick in the draft.

The Lions are understandedly still shellshocked by Joey Harrington. Martz could probably turn Mike McMahon into a productive quarterback, so there's no need to waste a pick on a qb.

Is it just me or is it whenever the lions have a top notch quarterback handed to them on a silver platter in the draft they simply look the other way? Sure Kitna had the second most pass yards in the league, but how many interceptions and just stupid decisions did he make while he was at it. Any joke of a quarterback can get yards eventually if you throw it as many times as the lions did this year. Kitna is not the answer and the lions have been starving for a franchise quarterback for over 20 years. Back in the day, Millen was a great LB but today he is a joke of a GM.

How quickly you forget....it was Kitna that brought stability to the Bengals when Palmer went down and he got that team to the playoffs. Wasn't it Garcia that took the Eagles to the playoffs this season... he was a former Lions QB. Why not stick with a QB and see what happens for once. The game is won in the trenches. You draft a Joe Thomas in the first round and go from there. Quinn or Russell do not grade as well as Vince Young...so why take the chance like you did with Harrington. Get that OL and DE positions taken care of and the results will show...

Kitna is too old to be the franchise qb.

Jon kitna is the worst 4th quarter quarterback in the league. The lions should give the young boy Dan Orlovsky a chance to show off that arm of his.

This is where the Lion's scouting department start to earn it's money! It would be nice if the lions could find an starting O Lineman in the 3rd or 4th round for a change. They have too many holes! I love MLB, Patrick Willis in the 1st, DE Jarvus Moss, RB Lorenzo Booker in the 2nd rd!! 3rd, 4th rd take OLine depth. Develope OLineman J. Scott Fill rest of holes in FA!!
