Raiders are on the clock

Detroit's upset win over Dallas gives the first pick in the 2007 NFL draft to the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders need help at every offensive position and will have a tough decision between Brady Quinn, Joe Thomas, Calvin Johnson, or Adrian Peterson.

The Raiders need to draft calvin johnson, and not brady quinn, because after moss and porter is traded, and they will be traded, we wont have anyone to throw to anyway. i think once we trade moss and porter, that open another opportunity to get a quarterback. remember brooks wants out to, so thats another trade.

What would the Raiders get back for Aaron Brooks? And who would take him? He's not a NFL-quality starter even though he's probably paid like one.

While I agree that we need someone to pass too, I believe that Adrian Peterson is to big of Running Back to pass up. Matt Schaub is a real choice for a Free Agent Quarterback, and we will be able to pick up some quality receivers later in the draft and free agency.

They Should get more line help and Calvin Johnson and trade other parts. Move down, let someone else sign the QB #1. Sign Matt Schaub in the off season. Raiders fans do not need a rookie QB. Quinn is so overated.

We need Brady Quinn we can trade Moss, Brooks, and Porter for second or third round picks to improve the line even with moss and porter gone we still have Doug Gabriel and Ronald Curry to catch passes.

You guys need to realize a few things:

We'd need to trade our #1 pick, PLUS our #3 (or a collection of players) to Atlanta for Schaub, since he's only a restricted Free Agent.

And trading both Moss AND Porter (which won't happen. Not both, anyway) would give us some serious cap penalties, ensuring we wouldn't be a player in free agency to address any of our other big needs on offense.

Well how are we supposed to do anything in free agancy anyway if Moss is sucking up all of our money we would have more to spend if we got rid of him plus we wouldn't have to worry about all the extra baggage he brings, we dont need moss we need a football player.

RB Adrian Peterson

Raiders probably aren't waiting on a young QB to develop.

The Raiders need to find someone who has two picks in the first round and trade with them. Then they can take Lynch from Cal as the running back and hopefully Colt Brennan from Hawaii enters the draft and they could get him with a late first round for QB. Colt is the real deal!!

Vick is a joke sure his recievers aint helping him out much but that guy couldn't hit a barn if he was standing two feet away, we need a quarterback that can help us out in the short term and long term, draft Quinn

The only person that will help the Raiders will be Calvin Johnson. Draft Randy Moss to Atlanta for Matt Shaub, that way both teams get what they need, and the Raiders get a superstar in Calvin.

Vick and the Falcons are ready to part ways. A change would be good for both sides. Moss would much more happy with Vick at QB. Vick's laser passes can get the ball a split second faster to Moss on the quick post, this would make Moss a dangerous WR again. Vick would also improve the Raiders poor O-Line play with his escapability. Raiders can swap 1st round spots with the Falcons and add another draft pick next year to make this happen.

I got an idea why dont we all remember that football is a team sport if Randy's unhappy he can pack it up and leave he stopped trying five games into the season we need to bring in guys that want to be there and can help us build for years to come. Vick cost too much money what we need is Brady Quinn, and an o-line. We can always bring in a RB like micheal Turner from San Diego then maybe Tony Gonzales.

The O line is young and needs time, you don't just go out and get line help, teams hold on to good linemen and the last thing we need is more youth on the line. If we can make trades to land Vick, by all means do it, if not draft Troy Smith. He is a franchise player who is being way underrated and whose stock will rise come the 8th and the NFL combine. He can move out of the pocket and throw down field at the same time, taking pressure off the line giving them time to learn and grow and become a unit. Keep our receivers, if you trade anybody trade Moss and make Porter the man. And a healthy Jordan mixed in with just enough Fargas can be a potent combo if we would just use it more often.

brady quinn's overrated quarenteed bomb, peterson has an injury-prone running style, calvin johnson's only the sure bet and he hasn't even played without a quarterback who can get him the ball they should take him or trade down

Slow down everyone! I can only thin of three rookie who were good for their tream: Fran Tanrkington, Dan Marino and Gale Sayers. The Raiders got the first pick, but they also need to be looking at Free agency. Look at the New Orlean Saints; they are doing good because of Drew Brees not Reggie Bush. Trading Moss, Porter, Brooks for a a draft pick!!!! That's nonsense free agency is something that will help rebuild the Raiders. Don't get me wrong the draft is important, but it won't save the Raiders. The Raiders will get a lot of attention beacause of their first pick, but they need more tah that. Going into the Offseason the Raiders need to look at all their possiblities and play thier cards right. They Raiders could possible trade that first round pick for a player, who know? They wise thing to do is see how free afency plays out and then look to the draft.

OK, IF I'M AL DAVIS, FIRST THING I DO IS PICK UP A COUPLE OF FREE AGENT O-LINEMAN TO REPLACE SIMS AND WALKER. THEN I TRADE DOWN TO THE MIDDLE OF THE ROUND (PICKING UP A FUTURE FIRST ROUNDER) AND DRAFT LYNCH. TROY SMITH SHOULD BE AVAILABLE IN THE SECOND BECAUSE HIS HEIGHT WILL SCARE SOME SCOUTS OFF.

Let's get real. Trade the draft pick for a decent offensive coordinator. No player, no matter how talented he is, can win in this predictable, dysfunctional system. C'mon Al, get smart and just win baby!

Draft OT Joe Thomas with the first overall pick. Then take your 2nd rd pick and trade that and either Moss or Porter for a late first. The Raiders should only need to move up a few spots to draft QB JaMarcus Russell (ahead of Ravens). Then target more OL help via draft, free agency and trades involving the other WR left and Brooks. Plus Jordan will be back next year and he is more than a capable back with some blocking in front of him.

ok im a 49ers fan and i know about over paid first overall qbs the smartest thing to do is a. trade down and get more picks cuz we all know they need all the help they can get b. dont worry about shaub in the free agency he has proved anything yet remember there is a guy named byron in the free agency and im from louisville he tourched us with one leg on a pretty sorry marshall squad c. pray to the freaky silver and black raider god and hope somebody is willing to take randy moss he isnt worth his money so hopefully u can trade for a mid 2nd round pick and get a qb like drew stantton, troy smith, and i personally hope he doesnt go pro but brian brohm

U WANT TO TALK ABOUT PEOPLE BEING A PRODUCT OF THE SYSTEM LOOK NO FURTHER THAN BRADY QUINN.WE NEED TO DRAFT CALVIN JOHNSON,PETERSON, O-LINE!!!!! OR TRADE DOWN AND GET RUSSELL.WE CAN ALSO TRADE MOSS AND PORTER.JACKSONVILLE MIGHT TRADE LEFTWICH IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT MAYBE PORTER AND A SECOND ROUND PICK OR PORTER AND SWAP FIRST ROUND PICKS OR MAYBE MOSS AND NOT PORTER.PORTER HAS MORE VALUE TO ME OVER MOSS BECAUSE PORTER MIGHT HAVE MOUTHED OFF THIS SEASON BUT RANDY HAS DONE IT HIS WHOLE CAREER JUST LIKE OWENS,THEY ARE BOTH BAD FOR THE GAME AND I WISH THEY WOULD TAKE THERE BALL AND GO HOME!

The raiders need to trade randy moss for matt schaub or david carr and then trade down a few slots, pick up some players for the number 1 overall pick( teams will give a lot for it) and then draft calvin johnson. Then they should pick up mike turner in free agency and many draft lineman.

I like Adrian Peterson as the pick. He's dynamic and a rare talent. Jordan doesn't have "it" and teams that have drafted running back depth behind quality starters--Steven Jackson/Marshall Faulk, Larry Johnson/Priest Holmes--have not been disappointed because they drafted talent over need.

The Oakland Raiders are taking Brady Quinn with the first pick, no doubt. It is time they developed a young qaurterback. Enough with the Kerry Collins, Aaron Brooks. Those guys are done. The Andrew Walter experiment failed and Marques Tuiasasopo has mastered the technique of holding a clip board. Rich Gannon isnt going to be taking snaps anytime soon. Brady Quinn is already ahead of the eigthball with Charlie Weis as his head coach, im not saying hes the next Tom Brady but he already understands the concepts and terminology of an NFL offenseive system. He is mobile and he is gonna make plays. The defense is set and is more then capable of making up for Quinns leanring curve. The raiders have drafted well over the past few seasons. And they can use their draft picks to beef up that offenseive line and if they have to trade Moss or Porter then do it. There is no need for the destractions they cause even though they are two of the best recievers in the game. Doug Gabriel and Ronald Curry are young and athletic and keep their mouths shut. Lamont Jordan will be back and now that we have seen what Justin Fargas can do we know we dont need a running back. Al Davis just needs to stop sticking his hand in the cookie jar and let the coaches coach. When Jon Gruden was the coach, Davis wanted to draft Derrick Gibson. When was the last time that guy did anything. Gruden wanted Todd Heap and look what hes done. Top 5 tight ends in the league. This isnt the 80's anymore Al so let the the coaching staff draft the players to best fit their system. Brady Quinn is gonna look real good in Silver & Black

we should draft joe thomas because our o line is horrible but im not sure about big 10 o linemen because of robert gallery. i think the raiders should trade moss for a second/possibly late first rounder because they need all the picks they can get.

obviously our offense sucks. Moss and Porter are probably gone so that doesnt help. I don't like drafting a QB with no weapons, it will only hurt the development of the QB (joey harrington.) We need instant offense. SO... my #1 pick is Ted Ginn. He is the definition of playmaker, he can do it all, score from anywhere. CJ has nice measurables and all but he is the same type of wr as Randy and if it didnt work with the best wr in the league (Moss) what makes you think CJ will do better? Ted Ginn adds a whole other dimension to an offense plus he might be the fastest in the NFL when he gets drafted.

The thing is there is no sure pick in any draft. It's a gamble. Everyone at the top of this draft has a chance to be a great player or a flop. A Peyton Manning or a Ryan Leaf. A Larry Fitz or a Bryant Johnson. An Orlando Pace or a Robert Gallery. A Ladanian or a Curtis Enis. What the Raiders really need though is someone whose best attributes can't be seen on the stop watch or in the weight room. They need a leader. Whichever one of these talent that can be the best leader needs to be the pick

You guys that say take Ginn and Smith first are all looking at just what these players do in college... Get off the band wagon!!! Gin Jr. is NOT a #1 overall pick caliber no GM in their right mind would take him in the first 10 picks! Troy Smith is NOT a QB any team would take over Quinn and Russel. Just because they do good against a bunch of teenagers and are on the best team in the country doesn't mean they should be the #1 pick. Mario Williams was on NC State, they sucked, its all about they physical attribute not their past.

Hold onto your hats Raider Nation I would first trade Randy Moss and a number (3) to Jacksonville who need a receiver for Byron Leftwich then trade Lamant Jordan for a number (3) or (4) take Adrian Peterson with the number one pick a rare but proven three year starter in college use Justin Fargas as a scat back which you need in today NFL pick up a couple of Offensive Lineman in Free Agency and in the draft if Two Offensive Line Hall of Famers cannot get you to block its time to clean house and start over.

I love Quinns game. The TD to INT ratio is great. Very smart QB, all the physical tools. Bring in one good FA lineman and work with the rest. Curry and Morant can be good players so get rid of the heartless starting WRs. The key is the coach. If shell is back, the rest won't matter.

I don't really care what the raiders do but get real...calvin johnson. name on WR that came to a bad team and turned it around. Be real the raiders are real bad, and going for the best player at a 'WOW' position will not help (detroit lions). they need to rebuild. Also, what will trading moss and porter do for you...a couple of 2nd day draft picks will not help this team.

We have missed out on many good QB's in the draft in the past 3 years, notably Vince Young last year. I don't see the Raiders going through another season trying to develop a young QB I see the Raiders either trading Moss to the Jaguars and Brian Leftwich to the Raiders or Moss to the Falcons for Shuabb. We will draft Calvin Johnson with the 1st pick and use the other picks to shore up the oline and running back position. I do see them drafting a QB probably in the second round and if that holds true, I see them selecting Troy Smith. He will not have to play this season unless needed and can learn from either Leftwich or Shaubb. Moss may want to stay in Oakland if Leftwich comes over but he cannot have his cake and eat it too

Yeah i think the raiders should trade moss and a pick for vick keep porter because the only reason he wants out is because of art shell so fire him he cant coach. draft CJ with him and porter there they can make some plays pick up a jim mora because him and vick are good together its justed because of the wrs to many drop balls they made him look bad beef up the O line make sure sapp comes back because he helps the d alot get walter out other there fast as you can because he sucks and makes the raiders look more bad

Brady Quinn already said he doesn't want to play for the raiders. He told raiders scouts to draft Peterson or smith because he called himself an overated quaterback just so the raiders won't draft him. He already stated he doesn't want to get into legal issues with the raiders, so draft him and trade him. I'm hoping he sucks just ass bad as Eli for being a baby.
