Tennessee Titans Team Needs

Defensive Line
Defensive tackle Albert Hayneworth has yet to sign his franchise tender, leaving the Titans with issues at the tackle spot. Assuming the team does work out a contract extension with him, it would still leave a need at the defensive end position. Defensive end Jevon Kearse was signed to help here, but his health has been a significant problem in recent seasons, and whether or not Kearse will play an entire season is anybody’s guess. An end or tackle could be brought in to provide depth in case of injury, and to provide additional youth for the future.

Cornerback
At corner, Nick Harper is heading into his mid-30s and the position could use young talent to develop behind Harper and to help reduce the pressure felt from the fact that Adam Jones will likely be traded away so that the team can move on. The position as a whole would benefit from some tinkering.

Wide Receiver
At wide receiver, Tennessee has had several receivers who have failed to live up to expectations. The unit as a whole doesn’t have considerable experience and hasn’t proven they can carry the load as top starters at the NFL level. They’ve dropped crucial passes and quarterback Vince Young hasn’t been able to consistently count on any one of his receivers. Justin Gage has shown flashes of something great, but it hasn’t been consistent enough. Justin McCareins has already been signed, but the team will look to add another receiver heading into next season. Tennesee should use a draft pick to find the skill they need at the position.

Running Back
With Chris Brown having signed elsewhere and LenDale White having some legal issues, young back Chris Henry is the only sure thing in the backfield. White shouldn’t have any problems in playing at the outset of the season, but his inconsistency at times has left the door open for the team to pursue other options at the running back position. Henry will take some of the carries from White, but a third back may be added to up the competition for the bulk of the carries.
