Offensive Line
The Bears could use a left tackle to shore up the offensive line. They may not be able to get the talent they want near the top of the draft, but if a tackle falls to them in an early round, they might take the chance on it. There’s a lack of depth at the on the line, and John Tait would benefit from being able to play at either tackle spot depending on who might be brought in. A guard might also be brought in to challenge Terrence Metcalf for the starting left guard spot.
Wide Receiver
Along with the line, the wide receiver group will need help. Muhsin Muhammad and Bernard Berrian have both signed elsewhere. Marty Booker and Brandon Lloyd have been brought in, but more talent will be needed. And although he has had some big performances, Devin Hester may not develop into a consistent receiving option. Berrian’s ability to stretch the field and play well regardless of who was under center will be difficult to replace with the current group of receivers. While the team might not take a receiver high in the draft, there will likely be the temptation to pick one up as soon as possible depending on the board.
Safety
Mike Brown’s battle with injury means that Chicago may want to consider bringing in another safety to add depth to the position. It doesn’t hurt to have insurance at a spot, and since Brown’s injury was quite serious, it’d be a good idea to work on finding support for him.
Running Back
Another need in the Windy City is at running back. Cedric Benson may not be ready to start the season, and if he is, it’s still questionable whether or not he’ll be all that effective as the starter. Behind him on the depth chart are Adrian Peterson and Garrett Wolfe, players with talent, but not quite number one talent. The Bears could look for running back help in free agency, depending on Benson’s status.
