Moving my post here, in case anyone missed it

Ok so lets see where we all stand...

I think we resign Clements, mainly since we have the money too. But if you guys want, we could release him and try to sign Asante Samuel who has experience in the Cover 2, and would give us a player who has gone up against Brady every day which would be helpful when we play the Pats. I would not like to see CB addressed through the draft however, since A, we did it last year and B we would have a very inexperienced secondary.

D-line, I think we give the interior another year. Let McCargo come back and push Triplett for his job. At NT, Kyle Williams looks good, maybe sign another backup NT. At DE, Schoebel is great, as always, and the otherside is consistant. So I think we can afford to address DE maybe in the later rounds, or if Top5 talent falls to us we could consider a DE.

At QB we give Losman another year. I'm as big a Losman hater as there is but he has earned another season.

At RB, McGahee tends to be inconsistant, but I think it's moreso the O-line's fault a lot of the time. Maybe a late round pick.

At WR, we could definately use our top pick on a WR (Jarrett/CJ if he miraculously falls). Otherwise we could also trade down and get Meachem who I really like. I am not high on Dwayne Bowe however, that man needs to be taught how to catch, still.

TE maybe if Miller or Olsen fall to round 2 we consider them.

Linebackers: Fletcher I think should be released. He's great in pursuit and coverage, but not too great in run support, where our D got murdered last year. I also think we should give Spikes another year to prove himself. Crowell can be moved to the middle unless we pick up a ILB. The LB core needs to be upgraded and we could look at Willis in the first.

O-line: I liked how the left side of the line was with Peters and Gandy. I think we still need to improve the right side, maybe a possible trade down and getting Blalock. Or a Free Agent (Steinbach). Bottom line: the right side must be adressed. Maybe Grubbs in the 2nd?

Overall: I think our first round needs should be BPA between WR, LB, OL, and DE.

I don't think we should trade up, unless a team really wants to trade down and we can move up for cheap. There we could target Calvin Johnson. Otherwise I think we should also strongly consider trading down as an option.

Just my early .02

I think the following people are being overpaid

-Craig Nall
-Price & Reed
-Denney
-Villarial

I like Holcomb as a backup. What's everyone's opinion on Nall? Do ya think that if Losman doesn't work out we give Nall a shot?

Villarial is 90% gone. Couldn't keep his starting job.

Price wasn't too effective as a #2. Definately not a started. Reed, I've never been fond of.

Denney I think is making too much to be a rotational DE with Kelsay.

Team Needs TE
I think with our 1st pick we can get a Top Notch TE,LB or CB.This is subject to FA.WE have 12 and 43 so we will get 2 good players there. If we get a couple guys in FA then our picks are all BPA.
We have 52 players with 2 draft picks to choose. That leaves us $7,435,750 to spend. We have 53 players atm so we will need to cut 2 players before the draft.

alright....heres my veiw on this offseason, and some players....

QB:....personally, i like nall...he had solid numbers when he played in green bay, and he never really got a shot here cuz of the injury....i think we should keep him over holcomb, based on salary....plus, that allows us to pick up a young QB just in case in the draft, free agency, or woodbury, who actually had some solid preseasons here doing everything from special teams to QB to WR

RB:....i honestly despise willis...i think he's loud-mouthed and he thinks he's way better than he is...he's talented, but on a team that isnt all talent, team chemistry is what would win, and willis hurts that....his stats get worse every year, he's only good against the jets, and he wants out....i'm all up for giving him that, for as high a pick as we can get, and drafting a RB to split time with A-Train, or signing Green from the packers.

FB:....we're set...shelton should be back, and we have neufeld and ceislak, and they can play if need be

WR:....totally in favor of drafting one in the first round, perhaps Jarrett...not Ginn though....we need a big possession type to compliment Lee's speed....Price just aint cuttin it

TE:...no playmakers on this team, but solid blockers....everett hasnt panned out, and royal isnt a great reciever...i can see us pickin up olsen, miller, or gonzolez

OT:...peters is super talented, and pennington was great for a 7th rounder, and i think he deserves a second chance...i think we should pick up a free-agent journeyman to challange pennington for the right spot

G:....we need a starter....blalock in the draft or a free agent...villareal (i know i cant spell) is old, injured, and done here, and gandy isnt good....i like preston, but we definitely need another starter....

C:...we're good...Fowlers decent and merz should be a solid backup, plus preston can play there too

DE:...RE-SIGN KELSAY..he's a bonified NFL starter, and he gives us a great combo with schobel....let denney go, he's to expensive for a backup, keep hargrove, and pick up a late round draft pick

DT:...we need help...triplett wasnt as good as advertised, and anderson isnt a starter....mccargo may end up good, so i say give him another year....i still think we should pick up a run stuffer to throw into our rotation.

OLB:...spikes is fading, but crowell and ellison could both blossom....i like what we have

MLB:...i think fletcher's gone, but i'd like to re-sign him....if not, willis in the first is a possibility, or a later pick or FA...we could also move crowell inside (his natural position) and keep spikes and ellison outside

CB:...i actually like clements....i know he dissappears at times, but he really picked up his game the second half of the year, and thats the same time our whole defense played better....i'd like to resign him, but if not samuel is a good UFA and revis and hall are good rooks...

S:...whitner and simpson will be starting together for the next 5 years, so no worries here..

punter and kicker, we're set....both are back...

As far as McGahee goes, I think we give him at least another year. Here's why;

1. He is still under his rookie contract and will not cost us a lot of money to keep.
2. Let him know it's put up or shut up time and see how he responds.
3. The draft class next year will be loaded with talent and I think that would be the better year to invest a pick at RB.

At OG, I didn't like Preston last season. He seemed a little too weak to play OG in the NFL, whereas Gandy (who sucked miserably at LT) was doing really well at LG beside Peters. I think we could give him another year but the right side needs to be adressed.

I'm all for giving Spikes another season. He played this last season coming off of that injury. So lets see how he does next season and see if it was a matter of recently coming off an injury that hampered him, or if he really is becoming innefective.

I'm not too fond of the talent at CB this year in the draft. I do really like Asante Samuel though.

Maybe even signing and trading Clements? See if a team wants to do that to ensure they get Clements as opposed to having to bid on him in FA.

On resignings: I'd like to see Fletcher and Kelsay back, but Clements and Gandy can both walk. Gandy is passable, and Clements will simply be too expensive. I think we should also be looking in to moving Spikes ( he's not gonna be the same again. I can just see it in his play.)

I'll start to look into a draft board, too can't start to early. Here's a list of players.

Round 1: 1. OG Justin Blalock
2. LB Lawrence Timmons
3. DE Gaines Adams
4. DT Alan Branch (low simply because of needs)
5. LB Paul Posluszny
6. DE Quintin Moses
7. WR Dwayne Jarret (charcter concerns force him down)

Trading down seems like a good idea, because both Timmons and Blalock would be later round 1 selection. I'm very high on both.

Round 2: 1. WR Anthony Gonzales
2. DE Anthony Spencer
3. TE Zach Miller
4. OG Aaron Sears
5. LB Buster Davis
6. LB Earl Everett
7. CB Daymeion Hughes

I'm currently obsessed with Gonzales. I think he'd be a great component to our offense.

Just a very early look. Opinions?

Thought you guys might be needing a TE and just so you know:

We are willing to depart with Tony Gonzalez for the right price.

PM me or go to our war room if you guys are interested.
Thanks

My first thoughts...

1. Don't trade proven players such as Willis, Fletcher, Spikes, Clements unless you get equal value. Everyone on that list is worth at least a day one pick.

2. If you people want to place Willis McGahee on the trading block, I am ok with it. Running backs grow on trees in this league and I am sure we will have no trouble finding a replacement.

3. Ice, have you contacted any team for a trade up / down scenario?

4. I am all for designating Nate Clements as our franchise player. I see no reason for letting one of the cornerstones on the defense leave without compensation.

5. Teams are going to be over-protective of all their players and this free agent market is going to suck. Teams are going to spend an unspeakable amount for the top players on the free agent market. There will be some middle of the road veterans who we can get for a bargain price.

I have a strategy for the draft. Instead of debating for hours, I would like to give out five names that are at the top of my board and you will rank them 1 through 5. The player that you give the five to, you want the most. For example...

Calvin Johnson 5 points
JaMarcus Russell 4 points
Brady Quinn 3 points
Patrick Willis 2 points
Lawrence Timmons 1 point

I will then tally the points up and the player with the most points is our pick. Do you people like that strategy? It's a good way to have everyone's opinion heard, yet everyone's opinion be equal. I would appreciate comments.

ok
1. I agree with you as far as not giving people away.I would put these following guys on the trade block. Clements if we franchise him as I think we should.Spikes see what he's worth to other teams.Price and Reed they aren't the answers to our need there but can help other teams such as the Lions. We can see if theres any intrest in Villereal and Nall as well since both will be backups here. I like Bowen as a backup but if theres a decent market we could consider trading him..
2. I say we hang onto McGahee. He's cheap and will only improve with a solid #2 reciever and better QB play.
3. No I haven't because I wanted to see what we really wanted to do.I also wanted to finish my evaluation of the team before I started.
4. I think we should franchise Clements since we have a lot of wiggle room in the salary cap atm. I added up out roster and it comes out to 49,983,800. We can franchise him for 5,286,800 which is going to be cheap considering the talent and what he would really cost. I do think we should consider trading him as his value will be even higher since his salary is manageable to most teams. Also after franchising Clements we would have $18,729,400 left on the cap.We have a couple guys we cut cut for salary reasons if we need more space.
5. Do you want to do this talent wise or by how much they will help the Bills as a team?

Our draft picks at the moment will cost us the following:
#12- $350,000, #44- $275,000 and #76- $250,000. Figuring these in with the Franchising of Clements we would be at $17,854,400.
We need to keep in mind when we trade or cut someone making more than $500,000 we count 10% towards our cap.

Are we interested in trying to work out a deal moving into the top five? Arizona's GM PMed me and was wondering if we are interested in trading up with them.

We could begin the offer with #12 and Nate Clements.

Who would we grab? CJ would almost definitely be gone by #5. I guess we could take Adams, but he wouldn't be worth trading up for when we have more pressing needs that can be addressed lower. It wouldn't really improve our situation at all.
