Looks like they are anticipating a Surtain trade.
Hope this guy works out in Miami, hes just an average corner, but safter than throwing in Poole or Howard. _________________ FF Member #1000

Mario Edwards is a right corner. Couldn't hold Surtain's jock. If you recall the Thanksgiving game against Dallas two years ago, he was the guy who was "covering" Chambers. You remember, the game where Chris caught 5 for 96 and 3 TDs...
He's JAG (just a guy) as Parcells would say. _________________ FF Member #1031 |

I think Edwards would give us what we have last year after we trade Surtain which Saban was going for I believe.
We can now play a great Quarters/Dime/Nickel set... Having a bunch of CBs that can start for te average team gives us the ability to match up against a team like the Colts with 4 -6 great targets at WR/TE/RB.
We also have depth in case Madison or Poole (who nshould start at RCB IMO) are injured. |

If you read the Miami Herald this morning, it will confirm your suspicions about the Surtain trade coming soon.
Surtain is a superstar DB, who I will miss greatly, but I can think of many reasons to trade him:
1. Cap issues.
2. Hes somewhat injury prone.
3. Hes got trade value (more than Sam)
4. We desperately need a second round pick for a QB or RB)
5. Nick Saban is a hand's on DB coach. This is his absolute greatest strength and I think he will have the impact that Alex Gibbs has on the OL or that the Minnesota franchise does with 'average' OL-men. This coupled with recent nfl rule changes makes having highly paid stars in the defensive backfield a low-priority.
Just my opinions |

| We can't trade Sam as he wouldn't save us more than 1-2 mil against teh cap after last years restructuring and he would only pull offf a fourth. |

Pat will be 29 when the season starts.
Sam will be 31. Poole will be 24. Howard will be 28. _________________ FF Member #1031 |
