Patrick Surtain and the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed on a principle for a contract extension if the trade is made sending Surtain to KC. The only thing holding the trade back is the fact that KC is still only offering a 4th round pick in return. The dolphins are looking for a first day pick, especially a second rounder. Why are the Chiefs so cheap? They won't find anyone like Surtain availible in the second round and they have already agreed on a multi-year deal with him. Why would they not just give up the second and finish off the trade? _________________ FF Member #1000

| They are gonna have to give up there 2nd rounder . The Chiefs are the worst at the offseason they try to get a Shutdown for half price by throwing past known injury out in the news which backfired with Rolle . Now they are being cheap on there Draft pick trying to get a Shutdown corner for a 4th rounder . Some other team is gonna offer up a 3rd rounder and leave KC with another [inappropriate/removed] Secondary for another crap year |

| Same reason why Shaun Alexander is not signed with another team and same reason why Edgerrin James is not signed with another team. Cost to much MONEY and alot will compromise signing a better player by taking there chances of signing the position they need in the draft. Patrick Surtain is going to want a ton of money and most teams dont feel its worth giving up that high of a draft pick for him. |

But the Chiefs and Surtain have agreed on a principle.... they have worked out the deal part, now its just time for KC to cough it up.
Also, this gives the dolphins a starting point to talk with other teams, if another team likes the deal that KC and Surtain agreed upon, then they may offer something better. I really hope that someone like the Chargers would bust through in the last moment and take him for their late 1st or second rounder and screw the chiefs over. _________________ FF Member #1000

No 1st rounder i know that . I say they get a top 10 pick in round 3 or a lower 2nd at best it says they want a pick in the first 3 rounds . Some team is going to offer up more and Leave KC with only A.Dyson or T.Law to pick from which isnt much since T.Law future is in doubt |

As a side note: Saban has said recently that he wants a second or a second and a mid-draft pick, depending on how high the 2nd rounder is. He is really sticking to a certain trade value. _________________ FF Member #1000
