Baxter walks in, vows return

Less than nine weeks ago Browns cornerback Gary Baxter lied on the Cleveland Browns Stadium grass questioning the future of his NFL career.

Just moments before, he was running deep down the north sideline with Broncos receiver Javon Walker. He looked back and saw quarterback Jake Plummer, whom he had already intercepted earlier in the day, ready go throw his way again. Baxter, tight on his man, salivated at the opportunity for his second pick of the afternoon.

"I thought I was going up and as I was going up I hit the ground," Baxter said. "Next thing I knew I thought I had broken my legs."

Nice to know that he will be able to lead a normal life away from the field.

But as far as on it I will believe it when I see it.

My Fav part about this story is.

"It's funny when I see people saying I can't play. But they also said I wouldn't be walking until February," Baxter said. "I'm my own doctor. Everything is looking positive. There aren't any signs that say I'm not going to make it back. I'll be definitely making history."

I just know my faith is starting to kick in! Very Happy

One step at a time Josh, one step at a time.

And I am sure he knows this.

Like I said, Baxter is a fighter, and I hope he keeps on fighting!

Great to hear that.....

I really like Baxter and it really sucks that this type of thing happened to such a great player and person... so I hope he is right and makes a full recovery.

Whatever with this guy. He have his own radio or tv show but saids he he only a CB and not a safety.

Well. I wish he would say, "I'd do anything and play anywhere to help my team".

He's a lark on the system.

Do you still think your a CB or nothing ?

Well then, maybe your papers are coming. Your goiong to be cut Mr. Gary Baxter, do you know that?

I know we won't ever fully recover so i am still not holding out too much hope that he can still be a good corner.

However, he may see the light and move to safety or be a hell of a nickel back.

And I didn't particularly like his quote about being a corner not a safety either. But you can't deny that this is a man with a lot of talent, heart, and character. I hope he comes back.

His little quote about them saying he wouldn't be walking until Feburary as some kind of justification that he can make it back 100% is quite ignorante on his part. Trust me when I say getting your cast off, walking or even jogging before the doctors told you that you'd be able to and fully recovering are two different worlds. I wasn't suppose to be out of my wheel chair/crutches for 9 months to a year, I was walking within 3 months and without a limp in 5 or 6 months time. I wasn't suppose to be able to run, jump or lift for even longer but I came back way before I was told I would but let me tell you I'm hardly 100%. I'm lucky if I am 75% of what I used to be. I still sleep in pain, hurt after ever jog, alot slower, alot weaker and my body tires so much much faster than before.

I believe that he can come back if he wants to work hard enough to do it but for him to ever come back as anything above average in the NFL is almost 99% out of the question. If he did come back he'd be a good nickle or dime back and great depth. Also, he won't be playing until atleast 2008.
