What if the NCAA did teh following schedule format. They started all games in the last two weeks of August/ first week of September. then they scheduled that counting as one week and all teams must play in it. they then would have a 14 week season (take out the army-navy week, place that in rivalry week). That would be done by the end of November. Then give a bye week. Teams can schedule up to 13 games, but might schedule less for rest. For the playoffs, do it like this: 4 groups, 6 teams per group, 2 teams in each group get a bye week.
Then, have them play it out. You have three straight weeks, followed by a bye week. Then the Final Four games are played on sat/Sun, and the Champioship the Mondaya week after.
It would take till mid0-January, a week longer, about. It would excite people more. Plus, you could award trophies for each regions championship.
You could also have 5-10 bowl games on the side for an NIT style idea.
Thoughts? |

I would love it if NCAA football had tourney, but with only 32 teams or so to start out with...
It would go like this...they would play there 12 week season and all the top 25 teams got in and 7 more or so that arent a top25 team got in, I think that could work... _________________

| I think FB should just put the best 16 teams out there in a tourney have the BCS pick the top 8 and sports writers pick the next eight and then have some sort of BCS style system to rank them and play the thing out, I like the Bowl games for an NIT style thing, then just call every game in the tournament the tostito's Finest Four or some crap like that so the companies can still advertise. |

| Every time they are questioned about it they talk about how it makes every regular season game important...Oh it that true? As I recall 3 teams were undefeated after all the bowl games and 2 had no shot at a title. They didn't even have the best 2 teams IMO, Auburn played a harder total schedule than USC and played better than Jokelahoma, they just didn't have the non-confence schedule but look at USC's, I mean Notre Dame, Col ST., BYU, are all patsies. Va Tech. wasn't bad but they were playing like crap that week. |

the only thing I dont like about that is the fatigue of the players... football is a lot more tiring than basketball and to hit as hard as you can the whole season, plus a postseason would be ridiculous, but on the same note, the NFL does it and it would be good practice... _________________

I noted fatigue, and placed in bye weeks before then final four and beginning...
I also though that the teams should decide whether or not they want 1-3 bye weeks in the season...but maybe the NCAA should regulate 12 games for every team. That would give two bye weeks to each team. |

| I also think playoff attract more interest. In America, bsides the Super Bowl, the biggest sports event is the NCAA BB Tourney, so why not do the same (just less teams for less games) iin College FB...? |

They would have to make it a 16-Team Tournament. With four brackets filled with four teams each. Basically like this...
West Regional (@ Arizona State)
#1
vs.
#4
#2
vs.
#3
North Regional (@ Notre Dame)
#1
vs.
#4
#2
vs.
#3
------------------------------------------
South Regional (@ Oklahoma State)
#1
vs.
#4
#2
vs.
#3
East Regional (@ Florida)
#1
vs.
#4
#2
vs.
#3
To me, that would make the tournament that much more exciting. Set up designated, neutral field sites for the playoff games. I'll even set it up with the last years rankings before the whole Bowl Season. This is using the Top 25 Ranking from the BCS Rankings.
West Regional (@ Arizona State)
#1 (#1 overall) - Southern California Trojans
vs.
#4 (#16 overall) - Florida State Seminoles
#2 (#8 overall) - Virginia Tech Hokies
vs.
#3 (#12 overall) - Iowa Hawkeyes
-------------------------
North Regional (@ Notre Dame)
#1 (#4 overall)- Texas Longhorns
vs.
#4 (#13 overall)- Michigan Wolverines
#2 (#5 overall) - California Golden Bears
vs.
#3 (#9 overall) - Boise State Broncos
------------------------------------------
South Regional (@ Oklahoma State)
#1 (#2 overall)- Oklahoma Sooners
vs.
#4 (#15 overall) - Tennessee Volunteers
#2 (#7 overall) - Georgia Bulldogs
vs.
#3 (#11 overall)- Louisiana State Tigers
-------------------------
East Regional (@ Florida)
#1 (#3 overall) - Auburn Tigers
vs.
#4 (#14 overall)- Miami (FL) Hurricanes
#2 (#6 overall) - Utah Utes
vs.
#3 (#10 overall) - Louisville Cardinals
In my opinion, that would have been a pretty good BCS Playoff year.
The Final Four matchups could have taken place at the University of Miami (FL), and the title game could have been held there too. Each team plays their 1st round matchup, then the next week they play their 2nd round matchup. They take one week off, then play the Final Four game. Then they take two weeks off, and play the Championship Game. _________________

Oh, and if there was a Play-In Game, it would have been (#16) Florida State vs. (#17) Wisconsin. That's using the BCS Rankings. Since those two teams were only seperated by .0027 in the BCS Rankings. _________________

Let's just leave Ohio State out of the picture.... They would definitley be in it...
I hate the BCS because it favors all of the Florida teams.. _________________
