| Not a bad move, as long as they don't overpay. You have to figure this will push Williams to the other side, and Spragan out the door. Depth from Sykes, Pierce, and Chukwurah (sp?). Certainly doesn't weaken the team. |

| I dunno. Did they re-sign Gold as a back-up? Just for passing downs? He left TB because he didn't like playing over the TE. Why would he come to Denver to do just that? They will want the best players on the field. I agree, Williams is a very good young WLB. (You don't think they'd move him inside when they go 3-4? Chukwurah-Williams-Wilson-Gold???) |

WRONG. part of the deal was moving DJ to strong side. additionally Dumb*** Shanahan paid him 10$ million more than he was seeking last year... |

Yeah, this signing has me really confused. I mean, I like Gold. He played well when he was with us, but we already have LBs. I don't know where he's going to play. Assuming we go to 3-4 defense, will we line up:
SSLB= Williams
ILB= Wilson
ILB= Pierce(?)
WSLB= Gold _________________ bronco por vida |

I think they're trying to get Pierce on the field ... and probably Chukwurah...whom they think can be a pass rush specialist sort of like Suggs in Baltimore.
whatever they're doing...it illustrates why any responsible owner would strip shanahan of personnel authority.
you let Bert Berry and his double digit sacks walk straight to Arizona and the pro bowl.
you let Reggie Haward and his double digit sacks walk.
and you basically kick trevor pryce out.
BUT YOU'RE TRYING TO ADDRESS THE D-LINE? |

It's called a salary cap. You have to stay under it as an nfl guidline. |

Reggie Hayward's sacks (a majority) came from the quarterback falling down and him jumping all over him.
Not a big loss. _________________

| and as for bert berry, not taking anything away from the guy but his numbers are inflated, i mean he did play the niners, seahawks, and rams twice each. hes a good de but not worth that kind of money in the AFC west |

Salary Cap wouldn't be an issue if they didn't make stupid moves like overpaying Chump Bailey, ...
letting a player walk just to bring them back for more money.
take a look at all the desperate and ineffective moves he's made to improve the defense. rather than building through the draft and bringing in personnel that fits a system they're committed to...it's fly by night BS move after the other.
Carter, Gardner, Leon Lett, Coleman, ...Bust
Gold, just bad management
Herndon, more bad management
Push come to shove we couldn't stop the bengals, raiders, chargers, colts, or kc when it really mattered.
get a real GM and let shanny handle Xs & Os and we can re-build this team |

| and watch out for john mobley, if he passes a physical he will probably rejoin the broncos linebacking core.... and if they switch to a 3-4 i think they might have the 2nd or 3rd best linebacking core in OLB - Mobley MLB - Wilson MLB - Gold (if he accepts a change to inside linebacker) OLB - Williams |

Champ had a few off plays, but overall I think he did good enough. New system, so give him a break. Half of those players the broncos hardly gave out anything for them, so it is not really a bust if you don't pay out tons. I agrees that shanahan has made some bad moves, but he just needs a little guidance that's all. Everyone forgets that he put together the 2 super bowl teams. Cut the guy a break. |
