Who's going to win it all next year?
The nominees:
USC brings back Leinart and Bush. Though they lost a lot to the draft, the still have plenty of talent.
Texas they still have Vince Young. How good is he Michigan fans?
Ohio State Tressel alsays fields a highly competitive team. They destroyed Ok. St. in the Alamo Bowl last year and return most everyone. More info on the Buckeyes at the end of this post.
Oklahoma lost in the championship game last year, and they're always in a BCS bowl. Losing White could be a good thing. More rushes for Peterson.
Michigan looks to be strong-as ususal-this year. Henne and Hart will lead the O once again.
Miami (Fl) is another team that always must be considered a front runner for the title. They don't rebuild, they just reload.
Other This is your chance (Florida, FSU, Virginia Tech, Utah, and everyone else) to say your team is going to win the championship next year.
I picked my Buckeyes. Being from Ohio, I like what I saw out of the team late last season. This year, they bring pretty much everyone back. Troy Smith throwing to Ted Ginn and Santonio Holmes! This could be the most explosive Ohio State offense in years. They bring back most of their defensive unit (Including all 3 starting linebackers in AJ Hawk, Bobby Carpenter, and Anthony Schlegel). If Tressel can just find someone 1/10 as good as Nugent to kick, Ohio State will be fine this year. Texas will travel to Columbus for a prime time game on September 10. That game game that will have serious BCS implications. OSU will have to play well (again) at the Big House on November 19 in their annual battle with Michigan to have a chance to win it all, though. |

The toughest game, honestly, is going to be Fresno State. They have a habit of beating BCS teams. The Arkansas/USC game would have been a great one if Matt Jones was still there though. |

although i don't think they will win the national championship next year, i think the Maryland Terrapins will surprise you. Fridge will finally cash in on the consecutive Top 20 recruiting classes hes hauled in the past two years. they've got a steady QB in Hollenbach or Steffy if he wins the job, a good RB in Merrils and a great freshman tailback Morgan Green. At wideout we've reloaded with Heyward Bey and we've got a possible Mackey Award winner n Vernon Davis at TE. on defense, melvin aleaze will follow in the footsteps of shawne merriman and randy starks and become a star on the defensive line. We've got the best LB in the ACC in D'Qwell jackson (better than ahmad brooks) and a good secondary. don't be surprised if we sneak up and win the ACC. OSU is definatley a possibility, you got to have some nice foresight to see it though. If that QB you guys got can stay on the field, you look good. Ted Gin is a monster! USC will be tough, but look for Leinhart to have a down year (odds show) Some people got UF... They CAN run the table, and the BCS loves UF, its just going to be a question of Deshawn Wynn's weight down and how good Urban Meyer is... _________________ The Executioner has been executed. |

| It's Matt Leinart... not Matt Leinhart. Amazing how many people still spell that wrong, not just you, but many people. |

And then I actually checked my original post to see if I spelled it Leinart or Leinhart... Though I knew how to spell it. _________________

I think Texas a will run the table this year. ohio state will suffere a letdown and i think texas will beat them. Texas will beat Virginia Tech in the national championship game at the Rose Bowl _________________ "The really important kind of freedom involves attention, and awareness, and discipline, and effort, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them, over and over, in myriad petty little unsexy ways, every day.” |

Because of the way they finished and the fact that they bring pretty much everyone back. After their 3 game losing streak, Ohio State was a different team. They won 6 of 7 (only losing to Purdue when Orton came off the bench in the 4th and led them on a TD drive). They beat Michigan by 16! And Michigan played in the Rose Bowl. Then they blew out Oklahoma State in the Alamo Bowl. OSU finished strong and this year looks bright for the Buckeyes.
Also, Ohio State plays 7 of 11 games at home (including the first 4). The only road games they play will be Penn State, Indiana, Minnesota, and Michigan.

That very well may happen, Terp. But I can't wait to see them play OSU in Columbus on Septemer 10. I want to see the Texas O match up with the Ohio State D. And I'd like to see if Texas has enough speed to match up with Ted Ginn and Santonio Holmes.
Texas will be very competitive and BCS worthy again this year. They, too, only play 4 road games. But they will need to win an extra game (the Big 12 title game) to advance to the championship game--unless they can back into it like Oklahoma did a couple years back.
Just for the sake of comparison, the Texas schedule:

Thats crap that USC gets such an easy schedule. NCAA needs a playoff system bad!!! Then I think you will see teams from the SEC and ACC get into the national championship more often. _________________ FF Member #1000
