| With Marvel Smith restructuring his contract, his cap next year will be about 7 million dollars. With this in mind, i believe that the Steelers will look long and hard at a OT with one of there first two picks, to develop so they can be ready to start at LT in 2006. If Jamaal Brown fell, Terry from Syracuse was there or even if we waited till the second round and drafted Chris Colmer or Logan Mankins, it would be a sign that 7 million dollars is too much for Smith. Just my thoughts. leave a message |

The real # for 2006 would be almost 6.6 million. Oddly if they did cut him during the Spring/Summer of 2006 they would have 6.6 million of cap dollars to still account for. I think if they cut him after a certain point they could spread that out over the 06-07 and 07-08 seasons, but it would still cost 3.3 million per year. With that as the alternative, now what do you think? If all stays the same his 07 cap # would be about 6.6 million also. I say they keep him at that price, especially if he continues to improve as a LT. _________________ Hines Ward is the reason I bleed Black & Gold! |
