yeah, the Nuge would be sweet. I haven't seen him, but I hear he has perhaps the strongest leg of any kicker - EVER. I guess he can kick 70 yard field goals - not a bad guy to have kicking in the dome.
I'm hearing that the Vikes like Aaron Elling though and plan to give him another shot this season. He apparently gained confidence last year and has looked quite good (not sure how he could have gained confidence though). I'd like the Nuge too, but I won't be terribly disappointed if the Vikes pass on him since its gonna take a second round pick to land him! |

yeah, and USE that 2nd round pick to get him.
for all the vast improvements the vikes have made in the last 2 weeks, they haven't touched special teams yet. you can't win championships without developing a championship kicker. |

I don't know about Nugent kicking 70 yrs, but he did well in the combine, except his kickoffs weren't consistently in the endzone. Strongest leg EVER? -- ummmmmmm, when he breaks Dempsey's and Elam's record, i"ll agree. Course, there's no better environment to do it than a dome
Overall, there's no doubt the kid's better than anyone the Vikes have employed since Fuad Rivez, Benny Ricardo, or Fred Cox. I guess when those guys were kicking, Morten was a Saint, and he was soooooooooo awesome.
So, back to the future, Elling just has bad karma -- seems to be a good guy, but something always goes wrong with him. We need to shed that crap. Morten's a legend, as is Gary A., and I have the utmost respect for them. They should be Hall of Famers before age 50.
So, does anyone see a draft choice or free agent we should hold out for in the next year? Nope?
If ya did, what would we do now, continue to go for it on 4th n 3 on the 35? That's getting to be reallly ridiculous. How many games have we lost the past 3-4 yrs by 3 pts or less? Enough said. |

Good stuff Artic. We have lost alot of close games, and a lack of a kicker certainly has something to do with it. _________________

Nugent in the second for sure. A few years back the Raiders had worse kicking woes then the Vikes do now.......spent a first and fifth on a kicker and punter........now they are set. And "strongest leg ever" was tabbed to Jano before they took him as well. |

nugent is well worth the 2nd round pick if it sures up the kicking game
we need someone that can kick the ball into the end zone or place it inside the 5 consistantly |

yes. yes. yes.
teams that have the best kickers win, because they commit to winning.
vinateri and the pats are the best example. how many games has he won for the team when the offense just kept them close? several every year. |

We need some guy who can hit 55 yarders so we dont have to go for it from the 35-40 yard line. _________________

Nugent would be amazing to get! And I have watched him kick for the last 4 years and I have seen him warmup many times but I have never seen him kick a 70 yarder! 65 yes, but he used a tee for everything beyond that! |
