Holy Crap. . . . I'd almost apologize for rasing the hackles . . . wcblack. . . even though Rosenthal signed an extension, who else do we have as a legitimate back up at tackle? And realistically, why wouldn't we pursue a trade down with Washington or lower given the scenario at the beginning here? Or better yet, trade completely out of rd 1 with the #7.
Now for #7, Merriman would be the only solution because he can be an impact DE. That said, we could trade down past #18 and still get an impact DE with James, Pollack or Roth. so why stay at #7 if the big 3 are gone? At #7, the best available, if the others are gone, might well be a corner, but since we just signed 2 guys for a minimum of 3 years, would it be wise to grab another for 5 yrs?
Suppose we traded #7 to the Eagles or Bucs, who have a bunch of picks, where would the draft be deep enough to help long term? |

yep he is a tweener...why because he has the size of a defensive end 6-4 270lbs. and the speed of a fast linebacker 4.60 in the forty as well as the athletic ability an amazing 41.5 inch vertical for a man of his size...
he's a bigger lavar arrington who ran 4.57 and jumped 40inches his draft year and was considered the greatest physical specimen to enter the draft in years because of his size and speed, well merriman is bigger and just as athletically gifted if not more so.
so yes he is a tweener but there is no way that should scare off the vikings, he'd be a stud outside linebacker during run downs and i'd drop him down to de in the nickel package for a julius peppers type presence.
like i said the more i read about him the more i like him...starting to think i'd almost rather have him more than DJ. |

Uh, have any of you ever thought that maybe Merriman won't be there at 7?
This guy is a top 10 pick, currently...wait another month and he may be a top 5 pick...
Cleveland and Tennessee could very well draft him, and trade-up possibilities are likely for this guy...
Don't be too surprised to see him go before DJ.
Bring it on Donkey Kong! |

Well, there's something that no one's really considering, unless you're a 'Boys fan hoping they'll trade up to take him. So, what if Merriman goes before #7? Damn, that would suck, only if Aaron Rodgers, Alex Smith, and Cadillac fell to that slot.
Then again, maybe the Vikes make get some attonement for years passed by picking up Dallas' #11 and 2nd rounder (#42).
Anyway, given that scenario Merriman's valued at in the Top 7, would we assume the Vikes now have a Big 4? -- Mike Williams, Braylon Edwards, DJ, and Merriman?
Heck that might even be the WarRoom Draftboard. I kinda like it. |
