I think we should take a look at this guy... he a FS (obvious need) that has potential. He is young, athletically gifted and could come cheap.

wow then i would def. pick him up. that would be an awesome upgrade at FS. also its huge for the draft. we would no longer hav to draft a FS at the top of the second which we probably would hav done. now we can take G or a DE there.

To tell you guys the truth I don't think there would be a huge upgrade from Heard to Bashir. I'd rather draft a FS for the simple fact that Poole or Shazor would be available in the 2nd

the niners are also contemplating moving Rumph to FS..so we cant rule that out _________________ First Round:Braylon Edwards, Antrell Rolle, Derrick Johnson |

bashir does not excel in anything and is a similar player to heard. i would rather draft a safety than sign bashir.

At first I was against the move of Rumph to FS, but the more I think about it the more I think we should because Rumph does have trouble staying with the WR because he doesn't have good change of direction and he has the mentality of a FS. I think I heard the CB is pretty deep this year? And I am sure we can get a good one in the 2nd or 3rd round.

i like rumph at CB because he is great against the run and his coverage skills are gettng better. If we keep him at CB and don't sign a FA FS, i'd like to draft pool or shazor with our second round pick. If we move him to FS and don't sign a FA CB, i'd like to draft marlin jackson... i think he's legit

i think it'd be a better idea to shift rumph to the safety spot and draft a CB in the 2nd or 3rd. CB is extremely deep this season and there will undoubtedly be a CB that slips to the niners in the 3rd round. if the niners somehow come away with 2 1st round picks for the 1st overall, i'd pull the trigger on grabbing the best available CB with the 1st pick of the 2nd round.

If people are envisioning Rumph as an Ed Reed type, then he would have to take Tony Parrish's spot, because Reed is a SS. I don't know about Parrish at FS; his coverage skills MAY be a liability. But Parrish at SS is one of our best players. I think Rumph at FS takes away some of what makes him such a potentially great player, like run support and blizting from the slot. FS is definitely in need of some help, although I have to wonder about possibly giving Dwaine Carpenter a shot...he played pretty well at CB last season, considering he started as our backup safety. Made plenty of big plays.

???
I assume moving Rumph to safety would be in the hope of getting an Ed Reed type, which is to say ballhawk. Roy Williams is many things, but ballhawk is not one of them. |
