Bears on Tuesday signed rookie cornerback Carlos Hendricks to a one-year deal while releasing kicker Matt Fordyce.

Anyone know about this guy.

To me, it's not really big news, but thought I'd post it anyways.

$10 says that the dude is cut in TC, and doesn't do anything...

Just the usuall scrap heap pick up if you ask me...

He must have shown them something. Remember that McGowen was an UDFA and we didn't sign him last year until after the rookie camp.

I guess after our playoff loss the philosophy is, "if they're decent, we'll try them out!" It's good to see them bringing in the CB's because you know only the most deserving will be there, meaning those who don't FALL DOWN in the mini camps LOL!!

Here's a little more about Mr. Carlos Hendricks:

http://www.collegefootballnews.com/Conference_USA/2003_Previews/UAB_defense.htm

Sorry if this link doesn't work. I'm a bit technologically inept sometimes. Here is what they say about him incase my link doesn't work out as planned:

"Cornerback Carlos Hendricks, Jr. - A good cover corner and a great complement to Hill, Hendricks is a fine playmaker with excellent speed. He intercepted three passes and made 50 tackles in 2002. He was also great at getting into the backfield on timed blitzes with three sacks."

I'm not so sure about these stats though. Another site said he had 2 career INT's in college which seems to contradict his having 3 in 2002.

I'm not sure I agree with investing so much in the d-backfield. We've got too much back there. This move would make more sense if we move Hester to the slot. I don't unerstand why you'd ppick up this guy for specia teams, we've already got Dante Wesley for that.
Maybe they don't want Chris Thompson t be their emergency option. If that's the case, maybe this move would make some sense.

All teams do that, they scrounge the bottom of the scrap heap looking.

I guess it's like if you have a bigger pool of talent to choose from, you can have a greater % to find a good player.

I don't blame Angelo for doing this, getting the max players to see if he can't find the next gem.

He probably won't do anything, I just felt like posting some Bear News is all.
