I like Edinger - but he's gotta go. Nugent will be a very good NFL kicker, it's just a matter of how high the Bears have to take him.

Check out this article about Lovie and Angelo talking about kickers at the combine:

Well.. with the type of team the Bears have the kicker can easily be one of the most important pieces to the puzzle. Many games will be decided by field goals and extra points... this offense (despite the offseason upgrades) still is only a "good" offense at best. Kicking will decide at least 4-5 games, I would rather we have a kicker that can win 5 games for us, rather than one that loses five games for us. An OLB or a DB will not decide as many games as a kicker... like it or not.

I agree that we need a kicker, but The Revolution is right... at what price? It's funny if you look at other teams' forums you all see "and let's grab Nugent in the..." 2nd, 3rd, 5th. I would not be surprised is he is a mid-late second rounder, and possibly early 3rd. I definately think we need to upgrade our running game/WR in both round 1 and 2. I am as anti-Edinger as they come, the fact of the matter is, he isn't great, nor is he absolutely horrid. He is about 80% so those 4-5 games that you believe the kicking game is a decider, he will win 4, but we all remember the 1 that he will lose for us.

Nugent is not making it to our 4th round pick and it is far to early to use our 2nd round pick on him so unless we acquire another pick betweem the two, we wont draft him. I think he would be a great addition but he will not make it out of the 3rd round and an maybe not out of the 2nd.

I agree with Grrlacher that with our defense and the type of team we have, our Kicker could play a huge role as to whether we finish under .500 or in the playoffs.
