Well, considering a contract year, I do hope that he continues to ball out. Considering our addition of Jonathan Allen, McGee needs to come in and play like that video shows.

Thank you, I continue to tell other fans to watch things like this and to read about him. He's a solid run defender and will probably play NT for us because of that. In fact a stat came out from I think pro football focus that the Raiders defense averaged a yards better per carry vs the run when he was on the field for them. I think with him on the field they only gave up like 3.8 ypc and it may have even been less and when he wasn't on the field the raiders defense gave up near 5 ypc last year.

Fans are upset because we didn't sign someone else and they think we overpaid for him and McClain but the way the contracts are structured we can get out of both contracts after a year and it won't hurt our cap for next year.

I really think he's going to be a good run defender for us though and give us 2 to 4 sacks on the season. His strength and size are impressive. He's listed at 310 pounds but all the reports that I've seen from Reporters is that he's got to bigger than the 310 pounds he's listed at, just like Barry Cofield was near 320 even though he was listed at 306 at NFL.com.

6th round draft pick for the Radiers in 2013 out of Oklahoma, he played with Trent Williams at Oklahoma. He worked his way up to being the Raiders starting NT last year and played wel for them when healthy but he missed 7 games.

Watch the video.

Nope- not one play in the first 4 minutes of this clip of him playing NT. Another question mark if we are planing to transition him into a NT.

4-3 DT that our FO thinks can be a NT.

He played NT for us in certain packages but ken norton did move him around some since he has alot of speed for a man of his size. When we go in our 3-4 fronts Mcgee was our NT. Mcgee said he wanted to play Defensive end when he first came but that didnt work out to well.He missed a total of six games last year but was dominant playing on a bum ankle. He only been injured twice since 2013. He is currently fully healthy so I expect him to ball out this year

Keep in mind oakland runs a hybrid 4-3/3-4 but we stay in the 4-3 most of the time when they want to use mack as an edge rusher and 3-4 when they want to drop him in coverage as a linebacker

Thanks for the Intel. Why didn't the Raiders resign him? Our cupboard is pretty bare a NT and DE so he's to hoping he can be a three down guy.

4-3 NT & 3-4 one gap NT play the same gap, the 1 gap, just off the outside shoulder of the center. Go read about it if you think I'm lying about it. I'm so tired of having to explain this over and over to this board and on twitter for the last 3 years.

The Raiders wanted to re-sign him just like the Cowboys wanted to re-sign McClain.

They had 13 unrestricted free agents and weren't able to keep them all. Redskins probably offered a contract that was a bit more than what the Raiders were thinking they could get him at and he did have the injuries last year although he flashed a lot when healthy. They also drafted Jihad Ward in the 2nd round of the 2016 Draft and had other young guys in the pipleline that played a lot last year and they are developing them for the future.

Quote:
2. DT Stacy McGee

Iím a bit surprised at how underwhelming Oaklandís defensive tackles have been in 2016. The group seemed like one of the teamís strongest heading into the season, but thatís been far from the case.

Instead, injuries and subpar play have doomed the Raiders along the interior. Justin Ellis has been a shell of his former self this season, and the youngsters Denico Autry and Jihad Ward have been awful according to Pro Football Focus.

The only two players who have earned impressive marks are Dan Williams and Stacy McGee. Seeing as McGee is set to hit free agency in 2017, I think itís safe to say re-signing him should be a priority for Oakland. Itís not like heíd cost that much more than the $559,670 heís being paid this season.

I was already hesitant about Wardís potential, especially when the Raiders nabbed him in the second round. Based on what weíve seen in 2016, itís all the more reason for the team to hold on to a player like McGee who is more than capable of making an impact as both a run defender and pass rusher.

McGee is no star and likely never will be. Maintaining depth and keeping quality contributors around is imperative to winning a Super Bowl, though. If the Raiders plan on doing that anytime soon, theyíd be wise to retain McGee.

Thank you, sounds 100% like our defense and how I think they plam to use McGee but trying to explain that to Redskins fans who are still bitter over the former perceived savior of the franchise - Mike Shanahan - switching the Redskins 4-3 defense to a 3-4 defense seven years ago and we haven't switched back yet and may never, although we play a 4-3 look 2/3 of the game will never go through the them.

Turtle you writing sometime appears condescending which may not be your intent. McGee lined up over the outside shoulder of the guard on the video clip not the center. Inaccurate and condescending is a terrible combo. Let's see if he can contribute which he may because we have little DL talent but teams rarely let good players leave. If we play him a NT it will be a transition for him.
