The Los Angeles Chargers are still hoping to avoid it, but first-round pick Mike Williams might need back surgery on his herniated disk that would end his rookie season, league sources tell ESPN.

7th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Was really excited to see him play in that offense. Hopefully it all works all well for him and he doesn't miss too much time.

According to Ian Rapoport on Twitter surgery was being considered 3-4 weeks ago, but it's off the table now.

If it's off the table and that was known 3-4 weeks ago, why is it being reported within the last hour Williams might have season ending surgery?

Surgery was on the table 3-4 weeks ago. 2 sources with direct knowledge say it is NOT on the table now. Williams is improving

^There's the Tweet you're talking about from Rapoport.

Seems like there are two very different reports happening within the same hour.

Thanks for the heads up.

If there are two different reports out about the same subject and one is from Schefter and the other from Rapoport, I know which way I'm leaning towards believing.

Go with Schefty, I hate our injury luck....we can't catch a break with injuries.

Good job hiding that injury until post-draft.

This.

But man, the ChargIRs can't catch a goddamn break on the injury front. Like I said ages ago, I think it's time to start considering a new workout facility... lol, who am I kiddin? That time has long since passed.

I would feel bad for the San Diego Chargers. But now I'm pretty much rooting for them to crash and burn.

Thanks for Hooker.

I can see again why LBC was so eager to switch sides. Laughing

On the brightside for the Chargers at least all of their players aren't getting suspended every week. Confused
