Something must have gone down. Timing is weird as hell.

Wouldn't be surprised if Ryan Cowden was a target. KC interviewed him and Jon Robinson brought him from the Panthers.

PFT suggested it may have been to do with the contract negotiations for Olsen and Davis and the hard line that Gettleman took during similar negotiations with Smith and Gross. Richardson may not have wanted history repeating itself I guess.

Any credibility in that Panthers fans?

I am beyond words. Absolutely disgusted with this. Gettleman had done a tremendous job rebuilding this team from the ground up.

This is the only reason I can think of why Richardson fired DG. TD is 34 and is in the last year of his contract. There is nothing wrong with a player playing out his contract and talking after the end of the season. Olsen is 32 and has 2 years left on his contract. Is he underpaid? Yes, I would say so but it wouldn't be good business to hand out more money every time a player whined about his contract.

We look like such a dysfunctional franchise right now with the Norman situation and now this.... so stupid

Odd timing given the season is less than 2 months from starting. Be interesting to see who they can get to replace him.

I feel like this could show Rivera has a hot seat. New GM being brought in, might want his guy if the Panthers underachieve once again.

Well youd think they would have done this before Brandon Beane (their former GM of the future) left for Buffalo.

Makes no sense. If u were gonna fire him and had a GM of the future why wouldnt they fire Gettleman and offer Beane the job when the Bills were negiotiating with him.

Now theyre both gone...

I don't hold last season against Ron. Gettleman didn't put enough talent on the roster. Coach was set up for that 6-10.

I would argue he came into a situation with a foundation pretty well set. Competent coach, young talent, contributing veterans, leadership. He just had to do some cleaning up with contracts and whatnot. He did a good job and I'd have liked to see his vision through but to this point I'd say the results are debatable.
