1. Eric Berry

Feel like he has become the best safety in this league and very underrated both on this forum and in the media. Not only is he a play maker that can single handedly win you a game like Troy use to, but he's a stout defender that does his job every play. Love this dude.

2. Earl Thomas III

One of the most dynamic and dominant safety's the NFL has ever seen. The centerpiece of the iconic "Legion of Boom". His 2013 season where seattle won it all is legendary and he was the face of that championship above anyone else. I do feel his 2015 and 2016 seasons are not quite on par with his 2013-2014 seasons so putting him at number one is a bit of a stretch.

3. Landon Collins

One of my favorite players in the league right now, just an absolute all around beast. No weaknesses in this guys game IMO. Only one year of elite play though, needs to keep it up to remain at this spot.

4. Eric Weddle

Vastly underrated in the media and a guy you should hear more about. His 2016 season was elite status.

5. Harrison Smith
6. Tyrann Mathieu (only if healthy and returns to form)
7. Devin McCourty
8. Malcolm Jenkins
9. Kam Chancellor
10. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix

HM: Reshad Jones

It's a bit frightening, the dearth of talent in the secondary these days. Safety isn't quite as bad as corner, but still pretty bad. I have only 4 legitimately great safeties, then about 10 pretty good ones, then maybe another 10 or so average ones, but beyond that, not much else to speak of at the position...

1. Earl Thomas
2. Harrison Smith
3. Eric Berry
4. Eric Weddle

5. Devin McCourty
6. Kam Chancellor
7. Reshad Jones
8. Malcolm Jenkins
9. TJ Ward
10. Tyrann Mathieu
HM. Glover Quinn

** I need to see more of Landon Collins. Last year he was great, but the year before, he was terrible; that's average in my book.

Whether you're using stats, eye-test, or a combo of both, Landon Collins was decisively the best S in football last year. However, we need to see him do it for at least one more season to prove it wasn't just an outlier. He pushed himself into the top 5 range but there's a few guys this ahead of him on overall ranking... for now.

If he keeps it up, Landon Collins will probably be the most complete safety in the league.

There only reason I'm reluctant to really crown him right now is because he also has one year of average to subpr play to go with his elite season.

But he dude looks amazing.
