honestly I would just keep Torrey. He does provide a skill that our offense sorely needs and I think he is a better compliment to Alshon than Mac would be. Althought Maclin is probably the better overall player but give me the better deep threat for this coming year.

All 32 teams make business decisions every year. Some of them are downright "unfair" to the player, but that's what you get in a league without guaranteed contracts.

Players aren't going to shun a job with a minimum salary of around 425,000 (with most making way more than that) because a team made a business decision regarding a player. The Eagles have had their fair share of questionable treatment of players (Dawkins, for example, or any move during the Chip Kelly era) and our team has consistently been an attractive destination through it all.

Guys making 425,000 won't shun anything, but guys making 4.25 mil would. Same thing goes with cutting Sproles if Pumphrey does well. If your organization signed a player in the offseason the cut said player because something better came along (draft or FA) in the same offseason it would be frowned upon by high profile FAs.

Still highly doubt it. There's got to be plenty of examples of veterans being signed then cut during camps and teams picking up other free agents. It's gotta happen all the time.

Yeah.

Key phrase there though was "right now". It's unlikely regardless of the Cap given the off season additions. Barring Injury of course, which I sure as hell don't want to be the reasoning.

I just realized Jacorey Shepherd is a free agent. We should bring him back since he was stolen from our practice squad

I don't think he'd make the team at all.

1. Alshon Jeffery
2. Torrey Smith
3. Jordan Matthews
4. Mack Hollins/Nelson Agholor
5. Nelson Agholor/Mack Hollins
6. Shelton Gibson/Paul Turner/A whole bunch of other people maybe

Isn't he a cornerback?

Yup that's what I thought as well?

Danger is thinking of Russell Shepherd.

This is actually accurate.

Maclins a good dude, decent wide receiver but he's hurt way to often. His stats don't even tell the whole story, he's the master of start a game but leave injured and be questionable all week and repeat that same song and dance all over again the following week. I imagine Andy and company just had enough.

Yeah I agree with Phire here, cause for every rich veteran who watched his money there are 30 or so who didn't and mansions and babies mamas and looking fleet with the home slices with bottle service ain't cheap player Laughing

So many veterans are out there on the free agent market giving no damn care about anything but who pays them the most..and they need the money.

My heart says friggin YES to Maclin, my brain says otherwise. Would love to have him back, but I do not expect it to happen - especially after Pederson's comments.

On another note. Would you be happy about a Wentz stat line like the below for 2017?

60.4% completion, 3,913 yards, 24 TD and 17 INT.

I think these are pretty realistic expectations, although I am hoping he can finally crack 4,000 as a first ever Eagles QB and I am hoping he has a closer 2:1 TD:INT ratio.

That line is btw none other's, than Ryan Tannehill's second season. After a 7-9 first season, he got to work together with a pricey free agent WR in Mike Wallace.

In his second year, and with much better weapons, not really.

It was also Tannehill's 3rd or 4th season playing QB in total at a non HS level. He started off at A&M as a WR. So I'd be pretty disappointed if Carson threw 17 picks this year.

If carson puts up a season like that I would start leaning towards his being a bust.

I imagine we're gonna take more shots downfield so maybe his completion percentage dips or stays the same considering he should be better. So, if he's at 62 I'd be happy. If he throws 17 picks, he better have 30+ TDs. And, if the offense is generally the same, then over 4000 yards should be the goal. But today's NFL it's not real special. A good passing offense should get you 4000+ yards.

Optimistic reality: 4100 32 TDs 15 INTs

It's hard to quantify stats with progression because ideally and supposedly we are going to be operating as a more downfield striking offense. If we get more of the dumpoff, 10 yard offense we'll get about the same put out as last year with less INTs and more TDs.

I'd be ok with 3900 22 TDs 10 INTs with some clear progression. But playoffs would be out if that's the case. I don't see the RBs being a juggernaut this year. Solid but not enough to lean on game to game.

Yeah we would have to trade him to Cleveland asap if that was the case.
