@AdamSchefter: Another roster surprise: Jets are planning to release veteran LB David Harris, sources tell ESPN. Was going into 11th season.

Sad. Been a great Jet for a decade.

Wow there goes the last great Jet from that Tanny era.

Thanks for everything Hitman, you were a true pro's pro.

Kind of ironic. For a GM that's stressing culture, he got rid of his offensive and defensive leaders in Mangold and Harris.

I think I'm one of the odd men out on this. I was never really a fan of his. I thought he should have been cut 2-3 years ago. He never could cover he was just a run stuffer. People played up his leadership in the locker room way too much. We had some bad stuff going on in the locker room from last year to the punch in the face of your future QB. He was never around or did anything about this. He was an average player at best. I always thought we could spend the money a lot wiser than on him.

As you can tell never really liked him. I'm pretty happy about this move because now we can really start to look towards building up that LB core. The jets will save 6.5 MILL this year by letting him go with no dead cap. Now that is a cause to celebrate.

Great Jet just like Brick and Mangold... but this should've been done 3 months ago.

I proposed it after the Davis trade. Free up cap space for next year and get younger.

Hitman was a great Jet though. All the best.

I'm fine with this, hate to see him go but understand he's not the same player he once was and it saves us some money.

Wasn't expecting this at this point in the offseason. But he's definetly not worth the money he commands. This defense is seriously going to be young.

If we were planning on making this move why didn't it happen sooner when the LB market was there. Yes we got Davis, but now we need some depth.

Swap Harris for Harris. . . Connor Harris was a tackling machine albeit in a weak conference. At this point he's might be the best ILB we have not named Lee. Hope to see more of him over Davis but my guess is Bowles will give Carter/Davis the first crack at it.
