I have no idea, I just hope the defense continues to improve and we don't make a near geriatric Brees throw another career high in attempts.

An average defense that stays reasonably healthy, an improved and more focused running attack behind an improved OL and with a better group of backs, and a 10-6 record.

To be honest, if we have those things, i'd expect better than a 10-6 record. I won't complain with anything above .500 though.

Actually, I will complain if we fail to make the playoffs regardless of our record.

I think if the Saints can stay healthy on both sides of the ball, they will surprise people. I am expecting a 12-4 record, top of NFC South, and NFC championship appearance.

I am the ultimate optimist...I reckon.

I think we'll see a much improved secondary play with a decent pass rush. Whoever said average defense hit the nail on the head.

More than that, I think we'll see a lot of development from our young guys. I think overhauling our assistants (D-line, LB) will prove to make a big difference.

I think our offense will be far more efficient. Instead of Brees slinging it 50 times a game, we'll focus more on using the run to open up the big play. Ingram, AP and Kamara should all get used a lot. Once again we should have a top-5 offense, but I think it'll be like in years past where we drive defenses nuts with our flexibility and weapons.

11-5.

I put 10-6 as we always seem to lose a game that we should win, much like during the peak years when we had a fairly decent defense and the top offense, we still would go 12-4 and lose to a team like the 5-11 Rams.

When I did the playoff prediction thing, going week by week for every team, I actually had the Saints end up 11-5, but just going safe with my expectations.

Been saying for a while... biggest opponent for Saints this year is beating the injury bug and they already have 3 of their top 8 paid players out. Their losing that battle already in a make or break season.

I think that trend continues... 5-11 or 6-10, Payton is either traded of fired after the season.

There's no way the Saints will call it a firing in the media if that's what happens. "Payton and Saints mutually agree to part ways."

I think Brees will hold the team and orginazation ransom over Payton's job security. That's why he wouldn't enter contract negotiations until after the season. He understands this could be a make or break season for Payton and I doubt Brees would want to continue his playing career beyond this season in New Orleans on a rebuilding project. Brees will play this year out and see what happens with Payton before deciding his future. It's very possible that if the Saints part with Payton, Brees signs elsewhere. Brees has been around long enough to realize how the Benson family works... he'll use his leverage into securing another season under Payton reguardless of this years outcome and they will chalk up another poor season to the hard luck they suffered early on. The Saints will get Brees to sign yet another 1 year deal with a player option for 2019 and we will play this broken record for the foreseeable future.

Sadly

As I said seasons ago. We should have traded Brees while he had more value. We have been shelling out tons of cap space to him, and for what? A bunch of 7-9 seasons? We should have embraced a full rebuild and gotten some picks and tried to get some kind of future under center. I really feel like not making some kind of move to secure a Brees replacement for the future is getting ready to bite us HARD.

There are variables.
What if we fire Payton, and bring in Peyton... Manning!! New head coach, and NOLA family favorite Peyton Manning as head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

You can't get a better scenario for Brees than that!!

Okay, I'm headed back to the bong.

Most Saints fans fail to realize how connected Loomis is within this organization and the Benson Family... Loomis will be here well beyond Payton or Brees.

However... if Benson truly wants to ensure the Saints long term future in NOLA. Bringing in the Manning family and minority owners with intentions of majority ownership after Tom passes that would be a great thing for NOLA.

Archie, Payton, Eli and Cooper all involved in some capacity would be a great thing for the Saints and the city of New Orleans.

Agreed on Loomis, worm. He's likely going to work for the Benson's until he's ready to retire. He's done quite well for himself in that regard, he's been loyal to them and they're going to return the favor.

Manning at OC when the overhaul starts? Maybe with a more experienced defensive minded HC. Would be an interesting experience.
