Not counting this coming year, the Ravens have paid Pitta $105,821 per reception.

Is that a notably high figure? I would assume no one would raise a brow at a theoretical player who gets 100 catches in a season making $10,582,100.

The last thing I care about as a fan is the Ravens having given too much money to Pitta. He deserves more per catch given how frequently he was going over the middle to get lit up. I remember him going over the middle and holding on to the ball after getting rocked by Mayo (shockingly to no flag) in the AFC Championship game, and then getting up and catching the go-ahead TD the next play.

Defining sequence of Pitta's career. Plus catching a TD in the SB.

I hope that money serves him well in healing his body.

I guess not, maybe this is a better way to put it:

Ravens signed Pitta to a big contract the offseason after his first major hip injury. In the three seasons since that extension, he's brought home $163,934 in cash per reception.

not a guarantee but helps his chances obviously.

but the Ravens have a lot of depth at TE with Gillmore, Williams, Boyle and Waller. Gillmore was a lock for this season, Williams essentially one too given he hasn't had his chance to prove himself yet. Boyle is by far our best blocking TE and may take the FB role too so he was nearly a lock. And Waller showed some promise last year in his first season transitioning from WR to TE.

Personally, I think Watson ends up cut for the money savings ($3m cap savings).
