Quote:
Tight end Dennis Pitta re-injured his right hip Friday, the second straight day that the Baltimore Ravens have dealt with a significant injury.

Pitta is undergoing tests to determine the severity of the injury, according to the team. The fear is that Pitta fractured and dislocated his hip for the third time in four years, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. If so, his NFL career likely would be over.

Hopefully it's not that, but non-contact injuries always seem to be the worst. Hard enough coming back from what he did already.

If it is, he's done. I was surprised he came back the 2nd time.

I really hope it's just a flare up or something and not another dislocation....

He'll have to retire if it's a 3rd dislocation....Jesus christ.

Not counting this coming year, the Ravens have paid Pitta $105,821 per reception.

First and foremost, this is just awful for Pitta. He worked so hard to come back and succeeded with an 86 catch 729 yard season. But, definitely needs to put his health first at this point and retire. Will be irresponsible to allow him back on the field.

OTAs are killing us Mad Two starters in two days. Again this is a spot we have depth (in theory). Need the 4 young guys we drafted in 2014 and 2015 to step up big time this year. Also increases the odds we keep Ben Watson, if he gets healthy enough to play.

That sucks. As a rival fan I'd rather him just have performed poorly opposed to being injured. Tough year to have been a Raven tight end.

Is that a notably high figure? I would assume no one would raise a brow at a theoretical player who gets 100 catches in a season making $10,582,100.

The last thing I care about as a fan is the Ravens having given too much money to Pitta. He deserves more per catch given how frequently he was going over the middle to get lit up. I remember him going over the middle and holding on to the ball after getting rocked by Mayo (shockingly to no flag) in the AFC Championship game, and then getting up and catching the go-ahead TD the next play.

Defining sequence of Pitta's career. Plus catching a TD in the SB.

I hope that money serves him well in healing his body.

Denns Pitta needs to retire and think about being able to swing a golf club for the rest of his life.

Thats a shame.

wouldn't say 'injuries' -- it's the same injury 3 times. after the initial dislocation, it's simply not strong enough to keep up.

Poor guy. Hope he's not crippled by the pain when he gets older. Hip injuries are a peach.... not to mention 3 of them. Best of luck Pitta.

I wonder if he regrets coming back to play after his second hip injury now or if he enjoyed that last taste of football. Either way I hope he can recover to the point where he can be comfortable, enjoy retirement Dennis Pitta you'll always be one of my favorite players.

Got to give it to the guy for his effort. If healthy he could have been a very good tier 2 type TE. Sucks, but at least he made some decent money.
