Are we giving up on Matt Jones too quickly?

The Detroit fumble. I seem to remember him fighting his butt off with 3 Lions holding on and he made a bad decision to try and extend the ball over the goal line. It did ultimately/ likely cost us the Playoffs. Big strong man with speed and hands .. Let's just throw him on the trash pile .

PS- Read a stat recently he was like 5 or 6 in YAC yards for running backs .

What are his fumbles per carry?

Very poor obviously- so throw the baby out with the bathwater Rolling Eyes

How many chances you want to give this guy? And at who's expense? Kelly's or Brown's? yea if we didn't draft a RB then you can keep him around but this team obviously doesn't think he can turn it around. And honestly him not showing up in the OTAs shows what an idiot he is. At the very least do all the right things so other teams can say this guy tries.

Matt Jones was taken too high. He was raw. He had tumble issues. He lacked a distinctive style.

He is a McCloughan pick. The writing is on the wall.

I'm hopeful that all of our backs have good preseaaons - including Matt Jones - and we are able to trade him around the time of final cuts for a late round pick or conditional pick to a team that needs more depth at running back. I think at this point we've filled the position with his replacements and I'm hopeful we can get something out of him in a trade, but that likely won't be until around final cut time.
