So the Chargers are stuck a extra year at StubHub? Laughing

Nice job, Dean.

It's not exactly a dome. It will have open air sides with a covered top. Open air would have made the permit stages easier and it would be nicer over all but this is what the Rams came up with. Mostly to host things other than just football.

Better being stuck in the Stubhub, then playing at the Q.

Tbh I think this is more of a positive for two reasons: a) It's going to be way more fun to watch games in that tiny soccer stadium and b) The Chargers target demographic needs to be South LA County / Orange County since that is where Carson is close to. So having an extra year of being alone in that part of the county will give them more of an upper hand in acquiring fans there.

Because it does rain here believe it or not. And I'm assuming LA will become one of the most popular places to host a SB, and I doubt they want it raining on the game/halftime shows. Plus it can also be unbearably hot here in September/October, especially if you are inland.

As is always the answer with anything NFL-related: $$$$

Even the dome itself is going to be clear "glass" (it's a compound glass similar to bullet-proof glass from what I can tell, but they've said it's strong enough that you could legitimately park cars on the surface of the dome and it wouldn't compromise the integrity) allowing them to project advertising from the inside to be read from the outside (specifically by people in planes on approach or departure from LAX).

What I find entertaining about this though is that the delay is for rain... when California has been in the midst of a drought for some time now. Laughing

This sounds terrible. Essentially playing inside a billboard. Sponsored-fields are bad enough.

If not for the fact that both teams will probably have home crowds made up largely of opposing fans, it would make for a better HFA because of crowd noise though.

Welcome to modern sports, dude. It really has no consequence on the state of the field of play (and realistically the ads on the roof are for all those times when the stadium isn't being used for a game - which is, you know, the majority of the year), whereas they're likely to project something team related during the home games.

And the players actually support this because more advertising and corporate partnership revenue = more revenue = more shared revenue among the teams = more pie for them to collect their percentile-piece as prescribed under the CBA from.

This gives me an idea.

Raiders can play 2019 at the 49ers' own digs since Chargers and Rams won't be sharing a home that year.

NFL can use this as a test run to see how 2 west coast franchises sharing a venue would work.

LOL... That's a long wait. Hopefully it's worth it?

(And by worth it, I mean best stadium in the league).

It's a shame the land wasn't domed, that would have prevented this rain delay.

Oh well, I'll sit back and watch Sanford and son I guess.
