I already debunked the idiot coach who said for teams not to draft him also. We got a major steal.

The incident is now moot. Now he can hopefully move on and focus on football. If he lives up to his March projection, we really got a steal. I think he will be good in the rotation from day one and develop into a quality starter. He might be the gem of the class, if value is considered.

Yea I didn't think much of that coaches comment- being so close to Gainesville I heard nothing but good things about his character and many denfend him as soon as this charge came up- very happy we took the risk- Our DL is so much better after this offseason!!

Good for him, and kudos to our front office for doing their investigations and pulling the trigger on this calculated risk. A 2nd/3rd round talent in the 6th round could pay dividends for us - I'm sure he's going to have a chip on his shoulder!

The speculation, which makes a lot of sense, is that the coach was trying to help him. The NFL came out last year and said that they wouldn't allow what La'El Collins did (threatened to go back into the next draft), that he wouldn't be allowed to enter the draft two years in a row. So he needed to go UDFA in a less obvious way. So once it was clear he was gonna slip, it makes tons of sense for a coach who cares about the kid's career to BS about "character issues" to help him slip to UDFA so that he could pick his team and get to FA a year earlier.

This was an awesome pick even before we knew the results of the case because it was super low risk. Now it's an amazing pick.

He might of not had the chance to pick his team but he sure fell into a good situation IMO.

An interior DL has to like the idea of having Ogbah and Garrett on the outside.

All of a sudden we have the makings of a decent DL.

Ogbah-Shelton-Bryant-Garrett starting with Nassib, Ogunjobi, Brantley, Meder and Holmes (?) as backups is very nice.

Gotta wonder if we keep 9 DL though.

I'm thinking decent is going to be an understatement real soon.

Freaking pumped

I'm against getting expectations too hyped up. But man I'm having trouble not doing so here. If Garrett meets expectations, Ogbah improves even a little bit, and one of Ogbunjobi/Brantley pans out, this could be a top 5-8 DL easily. And our OL could easily be in the same area. Having top 6ish OL and DL is a helluva way to make things easier on everybody else.

Are meder and Holmes PS eligible? I doubt they make the cut.

I believe both are not PS eligible. I want to say they have spent to many games on an active roster. Meder for sure isnt PS eligible and I believe Holmes is too

Not sure about Holmes, but I don't think Meder is.

Holmes talent wise is prolly the weak link, but he's the 4th DE, so I could see Meder mphaving a more difficult path.

That said, Meder is a proven entity (more so than Brantley and Ogunjobi) and at least can battle in the run game.

Would they consider using Des as a 4th DE and keeping Meder, Brantley and Ogunjobi?

At least one media member retracting his statements. Good for him for owning it and doing the right thing.
