http://cowboyswire.usatoday.com/2017/05/09/dallas-cowboys-2017-free-agency-2018-compensatory-pick-formula-ufa-wont-count/

4th, 2x 5ths, 6th

There is, from my understanding, a slight chance these can get bumped up based on performance. But you can pretty much count on these to be the picks.

So if someone came at you and said I'll trade you a 4th, 5th, 5th, and a 6th for Carr, Mo, Smite, and Church
...

Would you do it?

I would. That's one hell of a haul imo for aging or brittle players.

Those 4 picks on top of what we already have? This is great, as well as we have been drafting.

Yes without even needing to think it over at all. I'm just over here smiling when people are saying Dallas is going to miss these defensive pieces they let go..........

Probably...might exclude Church. I do think his presence will be missed to some degree. Maybe not uber talented, but seemed like someone guys leaned on and looked up too. With an extremely young secondary now, think a guy like Church probably helps more than hurts.

Leary got us the 4th. But your point still stands.

Right you are. What's great though, is that we were actively trying to trade Leary for a 4th and couldn't get anyone to bite. We refused to take less than a 4th because we knew this would happen.

Leary for a 4th
Church for a 5th
Carr for a 5th
Mo for a 6th

I would make all of those trades.

Sucks to lose McClain and Wilcox but DT and DB are arguably the deepest positions on our team now.

Sorry folks, I haven't been on for a while. I bought a house back in February and then just had my students recital last night so I have been uber busy.

With that said, Am I to understand that next draft we will have:

Rounds:

1
2
3
4
4
5
5
6
6
7

That's some good ammo to maneuver around in the mid to later rounds.

And we seem to have been drafting very well in those rounds as of late.

Without seeing anything in the way of progress from last years question marks ie: Tapper, J. Smith, R. Gathers, I believe (TE) and none of our picks this year, I would say our biggest needs, as I see it are:

OT, DE, LB, TE

If ANYONE says we need another frickin CB I will take a dump right on this page! Not after this year drafting 3!

Anyway, good news.

Yup, 10 picks total since we traded away our 5th for Woods.

With the Cowboys trying Collins at RT I might have skipped the 4th and kept Leary to have the best O-line possible. No complaints with the loss though

If I could have afforded to bring Leary back then I'm not taking anything less than a high 3rd round pick for him, maybe even a low 2nd with how valuable OL are. But of course his price tag was too large.

If we weren't paying Romo and Crawford maybe we could have afforded Leary. But at least we didn't lose him for nothing. Apparently Big Byron Bell was playing at a pro bowl level at OG in 2014 according to some Titans fans. That may be why Collins is getting reps outside

Smith - Bell - Fred - Martin - Collins

Not to bad on paper. Better than most I'd say.

We kind of traded one of these guys for Xavier Woods.

No we didn't. We traded our "then" fifth round pick. We were just awarded two more!

Ok with all of these later rd picks, I really would love Dallas to target players in a trade up. I want quality players NOT quantity that may not even make the team.

If our OL isn't "better than most" this year, we might have some issues
