Adam Schefter
Former Chiefs' DL Jaye Howard signed a 1-year deal with the Bears today, per source.

Heck of a player if he returns well from injury. Bears front 7 should be pretty good.

If he's healthy, Howard, along with Jenkins, should really help that DL. If it wasn't for much $ then I'd wish Elway had given his agent a call.

Wright & Wheaton were nice depth WR signings, too. I like their under-the-radar signings more than their splashier moves this offseason.

If i read it correctly, the more the Bears pay him the less we have in dead cap space.

Good for Jaye and the Bears, hope he does well there.

Yeah, it is, hopefully it makes up for the obvious weaknesses in the secondary

---------------Freeman-----Kwiatkoski-----------------
---------------------------------------------------------------
---McPhee------------------------------------Floyd------
----------Howard-----Goldman-----Hicks--------------

Not to even mention that they still have Willie Young and Lamarr Houston to cycle in as pass rushers and have last years 3rd rounder Jon Bullard to cycle in at DE, they have some crazy depth and a very high ceiling if we see some more progression from Floyd and Goldman. Kwiatkoski is penciled in as the starter right now while Trevathan is recovering from his patellar tendon injury, but played very well as a rookie, and Goldman has looked fantastic when healthy as well. Definitely the group that I'm most excited to see next year.

At this point the bears have so many guys in their front 7 (mainly their DL/edge) it's almost wasteful.

Are they trying to mask the back end with really really good play up front?

Chicago has about a dozen good players in the front 7 who can't stay on the field. Hopefully they take turns getting injured this year so they are never out of talent.

Akiem Hicks
Eddie Goldman
Jaye Howard
Leonard Floyd
Pernell McPhee
Lamarr Houston
Willie Young
Jonathan Bullard
Jon Jenkins

All DL or OLB. I get what your saying about almost being wasteful but the front 7 is the strength of the Defense and several of these guys have had serious injury problems so depth is much needed.

Seems like a good signing for the Bears here, good for them.

Absolute vet min deal. NO guaranteed $. This was an absolute steal. Literally zero risk. I don't know how any other teams didn't want in on this, including DEN. Yes the guy was hurt, but he also had the 2nd-highest run stop percentage when he was on the field, and a known history of being effective against the run. And he signed for literally 0 guaranteed $ and vet min wage. Man.

This is awful news for KC - they were looking to recoup as much as 2.5M from his 2017 guaranteed $. Now they got the absolute minimum. They were only 1.8M above the cap, and no rookies signed (who have bonuses that have to be factored in, plus Mahomes' salary is above min wage). Wow.

He tore his patellar tendon last season. Probably will start the year on PUP if he plays this year.
