Just from watching cut ups of Cannon, I came off with a few takeaways...

1. He's strictly an outside WR. He's fast, but he doesn't have the shiftiness or the route running skills to play the slot.

2. Speaking of route running, he literally ran 2 routes in the videos I watched, a go and a hitch. He never saw any press coverage, either.

3. He's got good speed, but he doesn't really get very much separation deep. I don't think he has that second gear like a lot of the better deep threats have.

Bottom line:

If we didn't already have Aldrick Robinson, he might have a chance to make the roster, but instead he probably lands on the practice squad.

I love that KD Cannon is currently our most-discussed rookie.

(I mean - I broke a tie, but still...)

Funny, but i think that hikutini has as good of a chance of becoming an important part of our offense as cannon does. Not sure whether that says more about what i think of cannon or hikutini.

I hope it's because you think highly of Hikutini, because I think the same thing. The TE position is so weak and all Baalke, and he has promise, in general. Would not be at all surprised if he makes the team and elevates himself to #2 RE at some point.

It might be a bit undeserved, but when your strongest competition at the position is a 5th round draft pick and a bad TE with a terrible contract, your odds are clearly in your favor.

I've been told former #Baylor WR K.D. Cannon has been cut by the @49ers. He signed as a non-drafted free agent. #NFL

Alright then Laughing.

Kind of nice to see the KD Cannon hype die. Some fans on /r/49ers swore he'd be starting day one.

Posted in the Draft thread, but some here in the Baylor bubble believe he violated team rules (i.e. something like talking back to coaches, not listening, etc...) Sadly it's not surprising. He's not a bad kid by any means, but his ego is unbelievably large.

In the freshman meeting at McLane stadium where fans can come out to see incoming freshman, he told the crowd he can't wait to be a Bear and leave after his 3rd year to the NFL Laughing

Should have signed Zamora instead Laughing

Who would have thought that between Cannon and Zamora, who already has off the field flags, that it would have been Cannon getting the chop first

I saw nothing special in his game. Plus that spread offense he comes from rarely produce great receivers.
