The 2017 draft looks fairly solid to me, after the Harris pick. Theoretically filled a few holes (McMillan/Asiata) and provided much-needed depth (Harris/Tankersley/both DTs). But what players would you have taken if you were in Tannenbaum's place? I'd have gone:

1. Rueben Foster
2. Jordan Willis
3. Dorian Johnson
5. Isaac Asiata
5. Bucky Hodges
6. D.J. Jones
7. Chad Kelly

1. OG Forrest Lamp ( top talent and fit a huge need )

2. CB Chidobe Awuzie ( immediate starter at Nickle )

3. DE Trey Hendrickson ( better value for a player that will be a pass rush specialist )

5. OG Isaac Asiata ( could be a huge upgrade at RG in 2018 )

5. TE Bucky Hodges ( a run and catch, spread the field TE with huge upside )

6. LS Colin Holba. ( John Denny is great but he isn't getting any younger, or cheaper )

7. WR Malachi Dupre. ( a bit taller than Ford although not as polished, has two years to buff up his route running )

Give me K Zane Gonzalez instead of Hodges, and OT Dan Skipper instead of Dupree, and the rest would be great for me.

I was shocked to see Hodges drop so far. I thought for sure he would go 2nd to 3rd round. He might be the 3rd best TE in this draft behind Howard and Butt. A 4.57 40 at nearly 6'7" with 10 1/8 " hands......he could be a seam threat monster in the NFL. I can't get onboard with a Kicker over that kind of potential.

I wouldn't touch either of those scumbags with a 10 foot pole.

I'm skeptical of the veracity of the claim against Conley. Timing was too convenient, and the blurb that the victim supposedly offered to "settle it" is telling.

Foster doesn't have any "scumbag" stuff in his background. He pulled the "do you know who I am" thing during the combine, but that's not that big of a deal. The diluted test is essentially meaningless.

The guy gets into it with a hospital worker and gets kicked out of the combine. Maybe he didn't rape or hit anyone but you have to admit it was dumb as can be. Behave for a few days and you're likely to be a top ten pick, nope can't do it. he diluted sample is a failed drug test. That puts him in the program before he steps foot on the field. Does anybody know what he scored on the wonderlic? It's anecdotal but I bet it was under 10. His shoulder is a separate issue from the other stuff but that's definitely an issue to be considered. After saying all of that, he is no Caleb Brantley or Joe Mixon so we can all agree on that. Regardless, I think we did well grabbing guys we wanted for the second straight year.

Oh, I get the idiocy complaints about Foster. Very legit complaints, but that doesn't make him a scumbag. Of course we are probably arguing semantics.

A diluted test at the combine means little to me though, especially for a guy like Foster who probably drank a ton of water for weigh-ins to gain a few extra pounds. There really should be a procedure in place where those guys that had diluted tests get retested 3 days later. It doesn't take that long to get the tests back from the lab.

Rumors are Foster's shoulder surgery "didn't take" and he may miss the entire 2017 season.

Fair point. He claimed it was from over hydrating and frankly, it's possible. I don't personally believe it and he will have a shorter leash now but I suppose that is beside the point

Jeez, I can't see how members are still pining for Foster.

1) Only guy to ever get thrown out of the combine that I know of. Shows a enormous lack of control. That is something that is easily exploited on the football field.

2) Follows up that combine blunder with a failed drug test at the combine. Bonehead move twice at the same place. He and his agent knew what was coming. Any excuses such as excessive hydration and sickness just don't wash. Better to test poorly with the flu than fail the drug test. If that was actually the truth it again shows very bad judgement.

3) Oh, did I mention the Wonderlic score of nine yet? Maybe that is the real reason behind this "bad judgement" trend we are seeing in the combine? Call me crazy but I don't want the guy calling my defense to be that ...errrr....slow.

4) His shoulder is a problem. A bigger one than many guessed.

5) He didn't really break out until he lost twenty pounds. Meaning he can't bulk up to NFL size without losing everything that makes him succeed.

I could go on but what is the point. Every year internet forum experts proclaim certain guys as great talents and members get upset when their team passes on those "difference makers". Somehow it is always the loser teams like the browns, raiders, and lions that grab these sensational, best value players. Certainly nobody accuses the patriots of ever drafting well.
