I thought that this would be a good thread to talk about our roster going into 2017 (at this moment), schemes, leadership, position battles, etc.
I highlighted in green players that I expect to be leaders in both the locker-room and on the field.

RB: Powell (28) / Forte (31) / McGuire (R)
FL: Decker (29) / Hansen (R)

LT: Beachum (27) / Ijalana (27)
LG: Carpenter (28)
C: Johnson (26) / Harrison (25)
RG: Winters (25) / Dozier (26)
RT: Shell (25)
TE: Leggett (R) / Seferian-Jenkins (24)
SL: Enunwa (24) / Marshall (21)
SE: Anderson (23) / Peake (24) / Patton (26)
Defense
CB: Burris (23) / Williams (26) / Clark (R)
S: Adams (R) / Middleton (23)
LB: Lee (22)
DE: Wilkerson (27)
NT: Simon (26)
DT: Williams (22) / Thomas (23)
EDGE: Richardson (26) / Mauldin (24) / Jones (22) / Donahue (R)

Thats it, as thing stand now. Only question who is Leggett, I sure miss that move where did he come from? It would be great if Hack played like he did in his freshman year at Penn ST. |

McCown hasn't been with the team long so his get presence is good, but the relationship with players isn't established which takes awhile. He also might be the backup, so the repor with starters won't be there as much.
Forte and Powell will be good vet bodies. Soft spoken and work hard. Decker is a probably our biggest leader on offense now. But Enunwa is getting into that leadership role as well. Carpenter and Winters should be highlighted as well. Vet G's that play hard.
On defense Harris is still here as a vet and is the best of the bunch. Guys like Mo and Sheldon haven't shown enough for me to think they're good locker room guys. Sheldon talks too much and amp was always a upstanding guy until last year, so there's questions around him. I think people are already looking up to Leo. Lee needs to be more vocal as LB. Jenkins and Lozo are good locker room guys we can't forget, they just haven't been in the league that long and haven't done enough for players to reps the them just on there play. I know nothing about Claiborne as a locker room guy. He's a vet but like McCown is new here. Adams and Maye look like natural leaders. Hopefully that becomes infectious to this secondary. |

Did you miss Jenkins? I'd add Qvale as competition/backup at RT; Martin as backup at LB; Tomlinson as backup at TE. I wouldn't count out Nick Marshall, Ojo, Lemonier, Miles or Bishop yet. I assume you feel that Gilchrist and McLendon will be cut. Also, if back, I think Decker will stay in the slot and Enunwa will be the flanker. |
