He'd have a harder time finding time there than in the backfield. I really think he will be utilized in this offense even with Cook _________________

At this point, it'd take far too long to get him up to speed to be an effective NFL DB. _________________

The coaching staff clearly has no confidence in Jerick McKinnon as a ball carrier. MN signed Murray and drafted Cook. McKinnon may have a hard time making the roster given that he isn't a third down back and doesnt have a diverse skill set as a ball carrier (basically similar style to Cook but worse). I wouldn't be surprised if Matt Asiata is brought back or they go with C.J. Ham as the #3 RB.
Nick Easton also lost big, going form potential starter to likely backup. |
These 2 statements contradict each other. Asiata isn't that good as a power back and is very slow. Mckinnon can be put outside and used more as a gadget, change of pace, scat back. He might even get a shot as a returner |
Asiata is an effective blocker on third down. I suppose Murray could fill that void. _________________

I think drafting 2 late round WRs effecively spell the end of Böhringers career in the NFL, even though they are different body types. |

maybe, yes. or Jarius Wright is the odd man out, nor do i expect both of the newly drafted wr's to make the team. _________________

Thielen
Diggs
Treadwell
Wright
Adams
Coley
gives us 6. MoBo on PS another year? _________________

Supreme Overlord Checkdown, thank you!
Winners: Emmanuel Lamur- no opening day starter to replace him
Losers: Latavius Murray- might not even open as opening day starter _________________

I could see the Vikes going with just 5 and not really filling the two vacancies created by Patterson and Johnson. Unlike last year, Thielen is an established starter where there is much less uncertainty to the group.
Adams might be good enough as a #5 with MoBo and Coley on the PS. _________________

Who on our team now has some trade value?
Nick Easton?
Jerrick McKinnon?
Jarius Wright (if Floyd is signed)? _________________

Easton, yes. Always a shortage of OL.
McKinnon, maybe. Injuries might decide that as we move closer to the season.
Wright, not likely. High price tag, no ST versatility, physically limited WR. _________________

I'd be shocked if the team only kept 5 receivers on the 53 man roster, especially considering that we currently only have 3 tight ends on the roster. _________________

MN drafted a few players with good upside as coverage guys: Gedeon, Tocho and Lee.
Losing Patterson is huge though. Losing Locke probably isn't a big deal. _________________

McKinnon definitely looks like the odds on favorite...as a "loser"
On paper Murray and Cook complement each other really well, making them the top dogs in the backfield. If they want to run some two running back sets they should be looking for these two to be those guys. Murray as a blocker, Cook as a reciever.
That leaves special teams duties as Jerricks surest path to the roster. Has he played on any of the coverage units in the past?...oh and he'd have to leapfrog Sherls and presumably Adams to be the return man.
He may be looking for work in September. Which kind of sucks because I still think there's a lot of talent their to still unpack, not just from an athletic standpoint either. _________________
