Still want to get another pass rusher. Still not satisfied with who we have behind Matthews and Perry. Thompson's refusal to sign any available corner with actual NFL experience last year in the thick of ten thousand injuries, especially when veterans literally volunteered to play for us, has me terrified about having a good secondary without a pass rush. One of them has already started getting injured before preseason. Can't take another year without a Super Bowl.

so which decent veteran CB was begging to play for the Packers after the season started. I guess I missed those articles.

It was Charles Tillman, who was in his first year of retirement.

IDK what the rules are regarding this but on Reddit there's a thread about Randall moving the slot (star, god I hope that doesn't become a thing).

Anyways, it's super negative in there.

What's everyone's thoughts here?

It is his most natural position. One that he played in college. If he can't make it work in there, he really can't make it anywhere.

And I'm all for it. Let him do what he does best. I think he's an upgrade to Hyde in the slot and King is an upgrade to what Randall gave you outside. In my eyes, the club should be better at two defensive positions next year. Three if you count House as the other boundary corner.

I don't get the negativity about him. I think people forget he was injured a lot last year. When right, the kid has great athletic ability and getting him in the slot puts him around the action more and I really like that.

Nothing is etched in stone at CB.....

It sounds like Herb Waters has a chance to start outside. Gunter has a chance. Randall has a chance. King has a chance. House has a chance. Even Rollins has a chance. So anything could happen....

If it was that up in the air, I wouldn't be able to accurately predict that our day one outside starters are going to be King and House. And that's who our day one starters are going to be on the outside. King and House. Randall in the slot, Rollins dime, and Gunter in our six pack and a pound package.

That's my feel. There's some fear that it's the beginning of the end. Or that he's now a bust because of the non premium perception of being a slot CB.

They're a bit caught up in Gunter playing boundary over him. But they're just putting the 3 top guys for now, in the best spots, for now. I think Randall WILL end up inside though. But I don't think Gunter plays outside all year starting. He might end up there week 1 though. I hope he's on PEDs, tbh lol

The two guys dogging him the hardest hate his personality/attitude and made that clear. So I guess that's playing in too. They didn't like his confidence and not taking blame last year and saying it was all the injuries that shook his confidence.

Like you say, hey we all wanted him to be a boundary stud, but truth be told, inside was really always his best fit.

Bookmarked! lol

I hope King is day 1 outside, because that's a very good sign. I can't tell what will happen.

I keep forgetting to get my Herb Waters avatar. He's gonna be All Pro this year bois.

Or not... you know. People assume that a rookie starting says more about the rookie than it does the guys he beat. I hope it's a good thing if King starts

Touche. I just figured if Gunter is his comp, we kinda know what he is. Him being better than Gunter right away isn't great, nor is it bad. But injuries can happen and stuff too.

I tend to believe King isn't gonna be as ready as some think. He seems a little raw to me still.

Well that certainly is random. I would think Cobb and Trevor Davis are 1 and 2 at this point as punt returners. I could see Jones as a real possibility as a kickoff returner.

I'm a bit put off by his attitude as well. But...corners need that kind of attitude. I can give him a pass. I still think he can cover outside, just not as well as inside. Inside I think he can be special and have impactful plays in the game. Outside, I'm not so sure. Average is the best I could hope for out of him out there.

Funny how guys will dog him and point to his injury as an "excuse". In my eyes, it was a valid excuse. Kid couldn't turn and run and was playing boundary corner. That took guts just to be out there. And we were one game away from the Super Bowl.

Not a bust in my book. I think he is going to find a nice home in that slot corner role.

I still like Janis or Davis at KR. PR I'd almost just put Cobb at. But that probably isn't a popular preseason opinion.

I don't know how much time you've spent hanging out with Demarious
IF the answer is "none" then the way that sentence above should read is:

"I'm a bit put off by his attitude as reported to me by various news outlets who are often interested in creating interest/controversy and clicks"

Not sure how much credibility I give those attitude reports and I'd shy away from parroting those opinions. Randall was under fire last year and neither he nor the Packers released much info on his knee, shoulder and groin injuries.
If you were getting slammed relentlessly in the media ( perhaps unfairly), you might be seen as having an "attitude" too. Its tough living in a fishbowl, even tougher when you're a young player under heavy fire
