I listened to a few kind of Analytic/fantasy podcasts from pre draft, and a lot of them seemed really high on Ross and Mixon. Matthew Harmon, who uses his reception perception stat, has him second to only Corey Davis from this class. And there seems to be a belief that backs that can't help in the passing game are massively overvalued so a lot of them had Mixon ahead of Cook and Fournette and some ahead of McCaffrey.

I mean it's not the be all and end all. A guy who focuses on film said John Ross shouldn't have been in the first round due to his injury concerns and Mixon was a massive reach because only 5/6 team were going to take him. I think his logic for Mixon is flawed because only 1 team needs to pick him and I imagine a lot of prospects are similar. Apparently Deshaun Watson wasn't even on a lot of teams' boards because of his throwing speed but the Texans still traded up for him.

It seems the only knock on Ross is his health. If they gave him a clean bill then who knows.

Mixon's only real knock is off the field. On the field we added an insane amount of talent, but who knows how those 2 things will be handled.

Rolling Eyes

So I have always been a big proponent of a strong offensive line, and I see our deficiency there, but I can't stop being excited about the potential for this team.

Me too. Maybe we bring in Mangold or another Vet but it's possible Fisher and Ogbuehi step up and do alright. If that's the case the offence could feast if Zampese has learnt anything from his first year. The D did pretty well in the last half of the season too last year and it's possible we might actually have a pass rush.

I am still shocked we scored Willis and Lawson in the third and fourth.

I saw we even tried to trade up for Lawson, sometimes it just goes your way.

Just dropped a metric ton of $$ for Green Bay tix. My GF is a Packers fan. Fortunately, she doesn't visit this site or the secret would be out.

Hoping the oline newcomers are drastically better or that's a LONG drive home.

I agree. Drafting those two make me feel a ton better about the defensive line. A d-line like the one listed below is incredibly talented especially since nobody was a first round pick. I know they are experimenting with Lawson at LB but if it was up to me I would keep him as a pass rush specialist.

LDE: Dunlap
DT: Billings
DT: Atkins
RDE: Willis/Lawson

I completely forgot Mangold was still out there and that makes a lot of sense. Though, I think they like Bodine too much to do that. Imagine how much different everyone would feel if they had this draft and kept Whit. I just hope we see improvement in the two tackles or it's going to be a long year regardless of who else is on the roster.

That's a whole new thread.....

I know weight isn't everything; but we seem to be getting lighter along the line, while the general trend is toward bigger more powerful guys up front. Alexander seems to be moving from big, powerful maulers, toward 'finesse', 'technique' guys; who just don't seem to have the 'grunt' to shove people around.

Sometimes, you just need to be able to line up and bull-rush the defence; and I just don't see that happening with the guys we have.
