Let's discuss them all in here, as opposed to a thread for each. Most of these guys will be camp bodies, special teamers anyway.

#221 - Shalom Luani (S)
Washington State. Avg Size and Speed, somewhat of a ball hawk, inconsistent tackler

#231 - Jylan Ware (OT)
Alabama State. Very athletic, Agile. Needs to put on weight. Considered one of the biggest combine snubs (not invited). Projected to be one of the first UDFA's sought after if not drafted.

#242 - Elijah Hood (RB)
North Carolina. Big bodied, bruiser, not known for speed or lateral quickness, potential short yardage back. Good blocker

#244 - Treyvon Hester (DT)

Mel Kiper had some nice things to say about Shalom. Said midway through the year he had him ranked in the top 10 of draft eligible safeties. Spoke highly of the year he had this year.

Shalom...
Fast twitch: One of the most special things about Luani is his sudden burst when it’s time to make a play. It’s one of the reasons why he was so successful in his move to WSU’s “nickelback” role — which is more of a hybrid linebacker/defensive back position that plays close to the line of scrimmage — this season. To borrow a phrase, he often appears to be “shot out of a cannon” as he puts his foot in the ground and starts to pursue a ball carrier, particularly in close distances, where he closes incredibly quickly
like what I've read so far.

Ware...
STRENGTHS Athletic with decent movement skills. Flexible and comes off the ball with good pad level. Makes contact at leveraged angles. Can roll hips through defender after contact and generate some push in run game. Once he's locked in, will pump his feet. Understands his length. Able to keep defenders off of him with long arms and plus hand placement inside the frame. Impressive strength in his large hands. Can snatch and maintain engagement to jersey/pads of his opponent. Decent balance in pass sets with well-timed punch. Rarely shoots hands unless pass rusher is in range. Appears to have foot quickness and agility to handle edge rushers.

Mayock likes Jayln Ware, compared him to Davenport, and a dancing bear.

Love the Ware and Hood picks. Ware has tons of potential. Hood is good depth and will be a good back if we need one yard if Marshawn is tired.

Idk if count on him dressing this year. If we can stash him on the PS we might, unless he shows out Idk how we fit him on the 53.

Lynch
Richard
Washington
Olawale
Jones

That's 5 backs right there. He obviously brings more as a runner that Jones but he's a ST player. It'll be interesting to see if he works his way in.

Perhaps we're looking at some real competition now for skill positions. Not just "sorta competition but we really know who will win it, and there will still be meh players on O."

RB-
Lynch
Richard
Washington
Hood
Olawale
(don't count Taiwan please, he is a special teamer all the way)

WR-
Cooper
Crabtree
Patterson
Roberts
Holton
Mickens
Brent
Zamora
Whitney
Hatcher
Brown
White
Kurtz?

TE-
Cook
Smith
Walford
Holmes
Brown

Especially competitive at WR. I have this feeling two or more of the UDFAs there might really be able to play. And Mickens seems unwilling to simply bow out of this.

The safety group also got alot more interesting real quick.

Nothing wrong with putting him on the PS squad, but Jones is not safe, he was hurt most of last year and we didn't miss him one bit. Cutting him or trading him would save us 1M plus on the cap.

Oh no doubt, if we have some of the young guys show out on ST's I'd cut Jones in a heart beat. Jones is what he is and I hate every time he touches the ball.

I feel as if Lynch is inactive any games (let's be realistic, Lynch is probably gonna miss theee games or so) then Hood will be active and get 6-7 carries. Need a physical back active every game.

Hood was compared to carlos hyde by fellow FFers when we talked about this last season.

1600 yds and 17 TDs the year before. Buy low, maybe we have a spot for him.

Been watching him today. He looks pretty good. Seems to be good on running screen plays and getting out in space as well which is something we have these big guys do.
