Marquel Lee is our 5th Round pick and first LB addition in the draft. He's an aggressive linebacker that makes a lot of plays at or behind the line of scrimmage. To pigeonhole the guy, he is a run-stuffer that lacks a bit of the athleticism and awareness to succeed in coverage often.

As a fit I think he is competing at our strongside and middle linebacker positions.

He's projected as a 2 down MLB, proves once again this staff is looking for more of a Run stuffer at MLB than coverage backer.

Do you think they were considering Davis in the first? I def feel like McMillan was high on their list in the 2nd

Raiders fifth-rounder Marquel Lee said GM Reggie McKenzie told him he will compete for a starting gig at linebacker, and Lee played mostly MLB in a 4-2-5 defense at Wake Forest.

Davis is a guy who can do it all, is obviously a plus, but going back to Lofton it seems this staff wants a tackling machine at MLB and if he can be decent in coverage would be a plus. MCMillan good against the run questionable in coverage same with Ragland last year and Perryman in 2015 who we were linked to.

Great production in college, but it doesn't seem like he has the upside to be more then a backup LB and ST's player. Either way, it's the 5th round, so I'd be happy with that.

Does the staff not value coverage from the Mike ? In today's NFL gotta be able to move I'm a little surprised

This game should definitely bring some lulz from the Raiders side.

We should only be so lucky in the 5th. Curtis Lofton was junk with us but had a pretty good productive career overall.

You all should watch him before you rely on others' conclusions. Lee can play 3 downs - just like Perry Riley did. The Mike linebacker is typically responsible for covering the runningback and dropping into zone, both things Lee could do. He also provides upside as a pass rusher through the a-gap.

We liked Ragland? I forgot. On the flip side, Roach wasn't a thumper. Nor is Heeney or Ball (though Ball isn't a Mike)

4-2-5 would be interesting with Obi

Heeney was a tackle machine in college. Roach wasn't great in coverage, but excelled as a blitzer. Ball is a WLB. And we use alot of 5-2-4 I think.

The Raiders already run a 4-2-5, it's called nickel.
