Quote:
BOTTOM LINE While Watkins has had a productive, successful career at Clemson, it is hard to isolate the area of his game that he will call a definitive strength in the NFL. Watkins is athletic and may have rotational appeal to teams that covet active interior linemen. His top-heavy frame limits his anchor at the point of attack and if his motor isn't revved up, he gets put on skates too often against power. Watkins has some talent and his traits are NFL-worthy, but he could end up being a Day 3 selection who will need to play at a more consistent level in order to become a factor as a pro.

We clearly have an affinity for Clemson players. I can get behind that.

Too bad we didn't get the memo on Cordrea Tankersley. First round talent at DB that was still sitting there in the 3rd. But at least the dropoff between him and DeCoud in the 5th wasn't much because who needs 4.4 speed and 9 ints when you can get 4.62 and no ints vs. D1.

He would have been more productive in college if not for the tragedy he went through several years back.

*Shrug*

Guess they felt the need at RB outweighed the need at CB.

From a tactical perspective, I'd much rather take some carries away from Lamar Miller with another RB (a RB with a different skill set in Foreman) vs picking up a guy who would project as a #4 CB and special teams guy.

Not all of the picks are going to be hidden gems.

Quite like this pick. He should bring us some much needed depth on the defensive line. I think we still need to add a veteran presence considering how young we are but I like the player. Hopefully he can be a solid rotational piece. Heath/Reader/Covington/Watkins/Kamalu all rookies or second year players with upside.
