Even with his limitations, wasn't he our most reliable cover ?
One would hope that Randall and Rollins take steps forward, but if you are careful with the assignments, I gotta think Gunter is in the mix

Gunter is limited due to his lack of speed. He's fine as a #5 or so corner, but will never be a guy you want to have to rely on outside.

Is a redzone cornerback a thing? Because that's the only way I think Gunter is going to stick around and get on the field.

A little harsh IMO. #5 ?
Gunter ran a 4.7
House ran a 4.5 6 years ago

I just don't think Fackrell is very good honestly.

With King, haven't we seen a history of outside cornerbacks taking time to adjust to this scheme? King is about as raw as they come, too.

i still don't really get the fackrell pick. and he didn't really do anything last year to ease my feelings on that

i'm told we're a draft and develop team, so i hope he proves me wrong, but im not holding much hope out on him.

How many #1 or #2 WRs in the league run 4.7s?

Anybody have passer ratings allowed for our CBs last year?

I'd guess Gunther was ~100.
Think he just looked "good" because he "wasn't" everybody else.

House also ran a 4.37 at his Pro Day and pretty clearly plays in the mid-4.4s.

Gunter (at best) plays in the mid 4.6s and it shows.

He's fine, I don't dislike Gunter, but I doubt he will be here beyond the 2017 season. We'll see.

Gunter is a fine depth corner. We have better players available to us now so we don't need him to start, but if House sprained an ankle and Gunter had to start 2 weeks, I wouldn't be too concerned. He's like the Lane Taylor of the defense. You give him some help and you can get through games with him without issue.

You have NFL Game Pass, correct?

When you get the chance go watch all of Fackrell's snaps from Weeks 3, 5, 9 and 10.

Then come back and tell me if you still feel the same way.

PFF loved the guy in 2016 and there's a reason why.

The 3 most recent draftees at CB played quite a bit as rookies:

755 snaps- Randall
323 snaps- Rollins
683 snaps - Hayward

11 interceptions and 2 touchdown returns in their combined rookie years, too.

To be fair, we don't know if Capers had his whole playbook available with the rookies or not. The young guys played a lot of snaps, but we don't know what was called or if the calls were limited by their new-ness in the system.

This. He's not a bad #4 CB, he's just not a #1 corner as he proved in the playoffs. His roster spot isn't in jeopardy IMO.

Ben Fennell with some comments on Kevin King:
Interesting to watch King's tape from previous years.. Variety
2014 - Safety
2015 - Nickel
2016 - Corner (with some nickel sprinkled in)

I do know that all of our CBs including Hyde, Rollins, Gunter, and Randall were over 100. Rollins was at 120 for most of the season.
