If Foster is healthy, this is the steal of the draft. Great day for Lynch and the 49ers.

Lynch nailed Day 1 of the draft on paper.

Got 2 of the guys we debated at #2, and still has 2 early 3rds and 2 4ths. Unbelievable.

I immediately regret my hesitation when Lynch was hired. He's got Baalke's skill in acquiring draft picks, and he also knows how to use them.

I don't even care where this goes from here.

His shoulder injuries are definitely an area for concern, but man what a beast this guy is. All the top ILbs/MLBs of the last two years dropped late in the 1st or early 2nd (Jack/Smith/Foster).

I agree but the difference is the other two had knee conditions, Foster has a rotator cuff. It's serious sure, but even if he sits longer than expected, I feel like the long-term on a shoulder looks much brighter. I'm really excited.

Honestly Foster scared me with his shoulder and reported concussion problems but at 31 it's well worth the risk. Amazing value there. As far as the possible character concerns I can't see a better mentor for him than Bowman, and there's a part of me that thinks Willis might be more than happy to trash out. Plus it's hard not to like your team MIKE LB having a little attitude out there on the field, something that was missing even in our hay day of Willis and Bowman.

I couldnt be happier with this draft, and its centered around this pick. outside of QB, LB was the biggest need on our entire team. The potential is DPOY level with perhaps the person in this draft that has the most love and passion for the game at a position where that is a valuable trait.

Maiocco is saying they see Frank Gore like character traits, and with this pick and Thomas I already feel like the culture of this team has picked up right where we left off before PWilly and the Cowboy retired. I hope these two picks look at those two LEGENDS of this franchise as what it takes to be remembered as such and earn the respect of the faithful unlike the the two guys who left this team for the complete opposite reasons in aldon and borland.

Helluva of a first draft for Lynch. On paper, he is killing it. Part of me was hoping for Melifonwu but Foster was arguably a top 5 pick before the Combine fiasco and diluted sample. But there's no question Foster loves the game and plays like a man possessed out on the field. Injuries are a legit concern but one of the best talents in the draft period and he's a Niner!.

When I got off the phone with Reuben Foster after telling me about his drug test, he called John Lynch. SF spent 7 hours with him recently

Interesting. Clearly he was high on our priority list, and perhaps he knew we were the team that had the greatest desire for him (especially after spending 7 hours with him).

Any chance Foster doesn't play this year? Shoulder still isn't healed, may need another surgery.

Love this pick for you guys

Absolute steal

Lynch is a boss for the Chicago trade and Foster will be a great fit behind your Dline.

Hated Foster at 2. Love Foster at 31. Absolutely worth the risks at this point. Still needs to keep his nose clean and hopefully his health doesn't become an issue, but I'm very excited about Foster at this point. Immediate impact player that will be a huge boost to our defense.
